Re: Yet another fatality and another serious accident. Canary Islands

Tragic and sad.

Is this uptick purely because news gets shared better than it used to? Why so many lately in this region?

Could also simply be more hours on the water by all kiters everywhere. Statically, just like anything, the more hours the higher the chance of incident...

Re: board for surfing and kitesurfing

Common topic on this forum. Been discussed at length. Link here. https://kiteforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=2396358&p=1127999#p1127999 Recommend going to your local surf shop and shopping the used board rack. Cheap and low consequence. Can buy a stack of used surfboards for the price of one new “kite sur...

Re: El Cotillo (Fuerteventura) rental gear/tips?

I use the same board for both kiting and surfing too. I usually ride a kite 1m smaller than most since my boards have a tad more volume. That said, for Fuerte in June go with a 6/7 and 8/9. It get's windy. If you need something larger, may as well just surf or crack a beer until the wind inevitably ...

Re: Fatality in Lanzarote, Spain

Always very sad to read this kind of news. My condolences..

Would appreciate any additional details that can be shared so we could caution against this happening again, i.e. kite size, rider experience, weather abnormalities, equipment malfunction, etc.

Re: Jacksonville Beach Florida - Looking for kite buddies

I spent some timing living in Jax Beach and there's a very active kite crew there. Two main riding spots 1) Huguenot Park and 2) 37th Ave S.

Checkout either one of those spots on the next windy day and there should be several friendly local people out there.

Left handed waves + reliable wind in June

Solo traveler looking for left handed waves (even if small) and reliable wind for a week in early June. (Based in Florida.)

This isn't quite vacation. Still need to work US East Coast hours during the day, so thinking South Texas, US West Coast or Hawaii.

Any recommendations?

Re: Kite Surfboards vs "normal" Surfboards

Recommend going to your local surf shop and shopping the used board rack. Cheap and low consequence. Can buy a stack of used surfboards for the price of one new “kite surfboard”. For flat water, chop and small waves, any kind of groveler style board will treat you fine for your first months. Under 6...

Re: Naish Ride

Any kite can help you with learning to jump. It’s a technique thing, not a kite thing. If you’re a bigger dude you will need some decent breeze to jump on an 11, but I think this is a good code to do it.

Re: Naish Ride

If you found a good deal, go for it! I rode the ride for years as I got into strapless surfing before switching to the pivot. Now, most of my buddies are on the ride. You’ll be very happy with it. Has low-end of a kite one meter larger and top-end one meter less. If you’re still mowing the lawn and ...
