Re: Do the wings even need to be aerofoil shaped?

A flat piece of metal will work quite well. I have used 1/8" 7075-T6 and 6061-T6 aluminum. One of the main differences between a foiled wing and a flat wing is the flat wing will be more sensitive to stalling. Since stalling in aircraft is catastrophic and structurally challenging, you don't see fla...

Re: 2014 Carafino Performance Board & Carbon Race Wings

Well, I invented the sport of hydrofoil kiteboarding. Since then, there are 10+ new companies making foils. Not one company has thanked me for inspiring them. This quote reminds me of Al Gore and the internet. :-D http://www.hydrofoil.org/history.html http://img.auctiva.com/imgdata/1/0/9/7/9/5/6/we...

Re: Titanium Foil

Terrie From Hawaiis measurements, Carfino's carbon is not a bunch lighter than a solid aluminum foil. MHL 3.7 kg Carafino 4.35 kg Rush Randle 5.5kg MyWood 2.55 kg http://www.kit...

Re: Titanium Foil

The patent looks lame. I suspect it is nothing more than a scare tactic for those who are not used to challenging a lame patent claim. Here is someone other than Mike Murphy making an aluminum hydrofoil. http://xairfoils.com/xone.htm There are other companies that make aluminum wings for ski boat co...

Re: Limited Edition Performance Hydrofoil Board

I appreciate your input on this topic and any ideas that further the sport for all. I have read comments from different viewers and they tend to look to the past and draw the attention of our previous production run in 2009 which suffered breakage. It is our great relief that we no longer and never...

Re: Prices on hydrofoil companies websites.

Here is a company this is filling this gap in the ski boat hydrofoil market. $750 with a board and seat. http://xairfoils.com/xone.htm It has been around a while and it is not a black art. http://www.innovation-creativity.com/flying-water-skis-ride-on-hydrofoils.html http://www.corbisimages.com/stoc...

Re: Prices on hydrofoil companies websites.

Hi Everyone, It still amazes me that most kiters still think that the materials are important to keeping the costs of production low. The main factors are actually: Price of labour, hours of labour, mould costs, transport. And then if you add in that a major brand sells though a network the margins...

Re: Prices on hydrofoil companies websites.

Prices are really high :( ... ...BUT, there are two tricky parts in this game: 1. Compared to a windsurf board/rig or other similar items, we are very much at risk because we can hit a rock or similar, at the bottom - thus the "small fortune" can get lost or damaged to "uselessness" (I know it is n...

Re: Serentiy: Fuerte Foiling Evolution

I for one am not a fan of the specialised Racing Foilboards as they are still to big to travel with. So I tried to make a few short designs that you will see. The great thing was also how well my 2 year old Freewave Proto works as a foil board. Definitely a great travel combo. Great wave board and ...
