Re: Simmons Planing Hull

Thanks for the feedback. I am aware of the Tomo inspired hulls...and modern hulls inspired by Simmons designs. So many boards are Simmons inspired. I have tried a few of those----but I have never tried kiting a true simmons with volume in the rails---50/50 rails etc. Strictly curious about the poten...

Re: Kiteboarding the Salton Sea

Explored and kited out there in 2004. Met a resident biologist who studies the water and is an avid windusurfer. There is pollution in any body of water and that sea does get some runoff from the agriculture. So it's not perfect. But the biologist said it's not polluted or dangerous....he windsurfs ...

Re: Channel Islands High 5 VS Sweet Potato for lightest wind board

I really think you will be ok with that size. And at that price you are probably getting it for close to what it costs to make it. It's more the shape of the board that sort of.....bogs I guess....when it slows down. The heavy V in the tail. Water flows OVER the deck...bogging. My point was that it'...

Re: Channel Islands High 5 VS Sweet Potato for lightest wind board

I have kited with a high five. It's a great ride. It feels wide and at higher speed it can be a bit twitchy because of the deep concave. A lot of boards made for slow surfing are a different animal when we put kite tow into play. You will really enjoy that board on light wind days---but the one thin...

Re: Strapless board shape?

I agree that you should ride that board as long as you can to decide what you would want different? I have known a lot of riders who have 2 kites but over a dozen different surfboards. They all ride a little different. IMHO that is the beauty of surfboards---the board itself has a personality. A cus...

Re: Wear on surf bootie sole

try freezing your booties....and suit......doesn't always work but I have surfed for over 30 years and many of my nylon covered booties would stink from bacteria---in the nylon and the plush interior.
Bacteria cannot stand certain cold temps......
throw them in a plastic bag and freeze them.
