Re: Foil - wave riding

I had loads of fun riding small breaking waves in Brazil. One day I got lucky with tides and swell and found a spot on a secluded rivermouth sand reef and was ripping along fast closing out ( impossible to make without high speed) shoulder high break at 35km hr. Half the fun was the fact that I was ...

Re: Ultra V2 or Nexus?

Ronin, I started foiling 2+ years ago and have had approx 90 sessions this season. 1 of them on surfboard. I got so wrapped up learning foil skills I totally lost interest in SB. (I gave up TT 4-5 years ago due to increased injury risk and long recovery time at 55+ years.) The foil opens up so many ...

Re: Best foil to use it Strapless?

Ives ridden Lf Impulse, Alpine xl - one short test each. Been riding Moses 550-590 and now 633.
633 is best of these 3, though all would work fine. They guys that owned those foils tried my 633 didn't want to trade back......

Re: How good do you have to be to foil?

Low volume boards float on their side lower in the water making waterstart easier.
Also easier to get board and foil tilted and the foil sinks back into water a bit slower.

Re: Concept Air Smart Wave 6.5 & 4.5 & 3 and now 8.5

Great Tony, Keep me posted on it. So you are only on the vader surfboard? what's your weight? If you can go at 10ms on the vader then then has great low end for a 4,5... I felt the Hyperlink 7 didn't want to get to the wind window edge on its own in depowered mode. I had to kind of work it there wit...

Re: Question Profile Go Foils ?

I've looked into this deeply. Foil designers, even amateurs, are not sharing the profile details as this is a significant part of the magic juice and IP. Yes, there's a lot of other interrelated design parameters, but the profiles are the starting point. In the surfboard world, they cannot hide outl...

Re: Moses 2018

I just spent 2 weeks foiling in Brazil at Parajuru on the 633. It was fantastic riding waves and swell downwind. Learned gybes and flying footswitch in both directions with aggressive carves. I could pop up in chest high water and fly out along the river channel and over 50cm sand reefs to open wate...

Re: Concept Air Smart Wave 6.5 & 4.5 & 3 and now 8.5

Good point Tony. I have similar enquiry. I'm on Hydrofoil and Ozone Hyperlink 9m and 7m. Was in Brazil 2 weeks and probably 30 sessions, 710km on water. Used the 9m and 7m (3 times.). One day it was gusting to 12ms and was feeling overpowered in gusts on the 7m momentarily. If I'd been in high wind ...

Re: Eye Protection Goggles that can be used with helmet

Matteo, makes sense. But in my case, foiling at this spot, so at low tide it's a 300-400m walk back to launch. I'd rather fry my eyes...

Re: Eye Protection Goggles that can be used with helmet

......they're too foggy or dark (polarized) and I can't see anything when riding, or because the vision just sucks and ruins my riding experience. My take on polarized glasses is that they are not for kiting. Seems like they ruin my ability to read the wave. Even with snow goggles on the snow, I am...
