Re: Bodyboarding on a Foil Board

70cm mast and J Shapes Cruzer foil, 155cm board. https://www.jshapes.com/ The technique was simple. Hips over the mast. Paddle for the wave. Get a little speed. Slowly raise my upper body to trim the foil and away we go. The sense of feeling the foil and being able to ride was almost immediate. Ther...

Re: Bodyboarding on a Foil Board

Gave it a go this morning and was surprised at how easy it was. Up on the foil on the first wave. Each successive wave got better and easier.

I don't think I will take it up as a sport. Without a perfect foiling wave location the ride can be a bit short. As an experiment it was just fine.

Re: "Club under 21" or about the "stimulating SLOW STYLE"

I have bought a high quality low speed foil and I am really, really happy with it. So much fun carving turn after turn after turn. Really looking forward to trying it out in some decent waves. Also the ability to drop a kite size is very nice. It's early days and I haven't explored it enough to tota...

Bodyboarding on a Foil Board

I am working through the thought processes of mounting my low speed foil and short mast on my SUP (position from tail, angle etc). It crossed my mind that it could be quite fun and educational to try bodyboarding on my foil board. I have seen videos from a guy who has built a lot of super-low aspect...

Re: Is it possible to kite a surf-foil?

.... Looks great. Curious, what's the top speed like? One poster to this forum said they had only had their takuma (or clone) to 21km/h. That's <12 knots, which has me hesitant to pull the trigger. Even if it is great for slow waves, I fear it would be too slow for faster ones, and not as versatile...

Re: Is it possible to kite a surf-foil?

I recently purchased a surf foil. The main aim was to try to aggressively hit wind swell and do lots of carving turns The designer says the foil gets going in a couple of knots less wind than his freeride foil so I am hoping to get a touch better light wind performance without buying a new kite. I h...

Re: Has anyone gone totally hydrofoil?

Short answer, yes. Just about everybody here who foils rides nothing but foils. In reality, if conditions are too extreme to foil (massive shore break, dead onshore, too shallow) then people will ride surfboards or TT. That might be one in 20 sessions. I would also add perfect, larger surf on a surf...

Re: Which Hydrofoil to choose ?

Shipping might be expensive, but this gear is excellent. https://www.jshapes.com/ Buy whatever you like. It's all good and very reasonably priced.

Re: Do U use an impact vest for hydrofoiling?

I don't think impact vests make a lot of difference in terms of hitting the water. If anything they make it worse because there's a bit more drag when you hit. I think the intended purpose of an impact vest is for protection when hitting solid objects such as boat rigging and sliders and stuff. Same...
