Re: What's the worst thing about kite surfing?

while waiting for wind thought I might ask this question. For me it's self landing in 20 plus knots. But generally launching and landing you need other people in high winds. This would be my number 1 issue with kiting, anyone who can solve this problem will make kiting less social :D Any experience...

Re: Mystic Majestic X Waist harness Quality

Those are not scratches on the yellow design. They are cracks in the paint. I think the flaws are probably cosmetic, but they are intolerable given the cost of the harness. I would take it back to the shop and expect a replacement or a refund.

Re: Are Switch kites getting any better?

I have Element 4 and 5 and Helium 2. I have had more bridle wraps on these kites than any others I have owned in the past 18 years. Several tip traps during self launching. A couple of terminal front line wraps while kiting. Quite a few roll overs ending up inversions, lines twisted and a fair bit o...

Re: Pulleys on kites

I have no experience in paragliding but these seem to have a long history in briddle design, are pulleys necessary/used in the bridles? ... Paragliders have mostly no pulleys in the bridle at the wing end. At the bottom end (near the equivalent of the bar) they all have pulleys and some are getting...

Graceful Dismount

I've got most of foiling under control and can have a nice dry session. So far so good. When I get back to the beach I drop down on my backside and hold the board out to the side with my feet. It is effective, but not very elegant. At sandy spots I can ride in to knee deep water and drop off with no...

Re: New ebook: A standardized warm-up for kiteboarders

This is really fucking annoying. Your warmup has no more value than vigorously pumping up your kite and being a bit energetic while rigging up. Waste of time. Worse is that because it's an iBook, I now have your shit publication in my iCloud library forever. I know that is Apple's fault and I know I...

Re: Pulleys on kites

I know that the technical design of many kitesurfing kites is done by paraglider guys. As far as I know the tuning process would be similar. Test pilot rides. Identifies an issue. Designer and rider work out a modification. Implement it. Test it. Repeat. A kite has a semi-rigid structure, a tiny bri...

Re: Pulleys on kites

Prototype paragliders are made with multiple attachment points and lines with knots and loops. The test pilots fly around, top land, adjust, take off, repeat. Paraglider line sets are vastly more complex than a kite bridle. The lines have to support the 3d structure and handle changes in shape due w...

Re: Pulleys on kites

.... Designing a kite with pulleys is the easiest thing to do, all you have to do is make a kite with lots of attachment points, fly the kite and experiment by attaching the bridle to certain points until you get it right. I'm not saying it's easy I'm just saying it's about 1000 times easier than m...
