Re: Lets discuss ear protection

I have Surfears and Docs Proplugs. Sorry, but they do not work. At all. Total garbage. They might be fine if you have a perfectly round ear canal. If you have surfer's ear (exostoses) then the canal has bone nodes protruding. The ear plugs simply will not seal. The plugs are quite hard so if you wea...

Re: Foil board compatibility

....Therefore, if anybody reading this bought non-track board in 2018, what was the reason? I bought my last board in 2017, but you'd have to drag me kicking and screaming to buy a track mount foil. The main reason is that the manufacturer who makes my gear uses a deep Tuttle connection. I really l...

Re: Opinion on NP helmets

I am not a fan of ear covers on helmets. They tend to act as resonators to make wind noise much louder. They might help with ear impacts and keep wind out, but they don't stop water getting in your ears. In winter I wore a neoprene surf hat under the helmet. That damped out the wind noise a little a...

Re: Opinion on NP helmets

They're the least worst of all the kiteboarding/windsurfing helmets. They're light and reasonably priced. The ear covers are just wedged in. They can, and do, fall out. You need to wedge them in really well if you want them to stay. The adjustment frame has an adjustment dial. It works very well. Bu...

Re: How do you transport (car) your HF?

I have always done a full pack down between each session. All the gear fits neatly into it's bag and slots into the car. When I started I had Liquid Force piece-of-shit foil with 13 bolts. At 30 seconds a bolt that's 7 minutes. Now I have a beautiful J Shapes full carbon kit. 4 bolts at 30 seconds a...

Re: Nitro 7 Proto Photos

The bridles on the blue kite look completely different to the white kite. The blue kite looks very "spider". The white not at all.

Re: Why do you need especially fast turning kite

Goes straight where you want it...and how many times straight to where you don’t want it ? 😁 Hardly ever, and if it does go somewhere I don't want it then a quick flick of the bar and it's back in the right place. On the other hand, how many times has a kite got stuck somewhere you don't want it an...

Re: Why do you need especially fast turning kite

I want the kite to do what I want it to, when I want it to. It's simple as that. When you're just cruising around in comfortable conditions the kite doesn't matter all that much. If you're at the extremes of the low end or the high end then quick response is vital both for recovering from errors, an...

Re: Surf Foils for Kiteboarding?

My favourite foil is the J Shapes Cruzer. I use it probably 80% of the time in preference to the Freeride foil. I can ride in lighter winds. I can ride slower. Top speed is only a few knots less than the Freeride. I can blast around in waves and really carve the turns. It is very forgiving of techni...
