Re: The stagnant foiler.

I'm a bit confused. On this thread you talk about going hard and big waves and speed and stuff. On other threads you say you can't do a foiling gybe. How does that work? How do you ride these big waves if you can't turn in and out of them or carve around on them?

Re: 2019 Duotone Click Bar

.... I bought the 3 click bars to safeguard my kit lifespan, as I was retiring and did not want to replace gear when my income was limited to pension funds, ... I went the other way. I used to have a bar per kite, and then bought low price but decent quality bars. Now I use a single high quality (C...

Re: The stagnant foiler.

I kite and foil solo, or with my kiting mate. Most of my adventures are solo. I never go more than 500m offshore. I am very risk averse. My most recent foiling adventure is being bumped off the foil by a couple of dolphins and ending up in the water surrounded by 5-6 dolphins. Lots of encounters wit...

Re: groove V straps

I sent them an email. The answer was no. You have to order the rear strap separately. I decided to not go ahead because it would end up costing twice as much as a set of high end surf straps. Postage to Australia was a big chunk of that.

Re: The stagnant foiler.

My take on this, and most things: Too much thinking. Not enough kiting. Get out there and do it. You'll get better at the things you can already do. Maybe learn some new things. Maybe nail something you've been trying for ages. Either way you've had some exercise. Maybe had some fun. Exposed yoursel...

Re: Foilers vs Kiters proportion now

I have solo foiling sessions day after day after day. Lately it's been my Freeride foil and a 7m wave kite. A bit of a coast run to start with, blast downwind to the start, then play with the waves and work on the tacks. Most people see a sub-20 knot forecast so they don't even watch the weather obs...

I ride a J Shapes 120 freeride board. You can order it with deep tuttle and/or track mounts.

Re: too light to drift downwind?

It happens to me all the time. The board, foil and mast are all so light the whole thing floats high on top of the water. It is possible to ride more conservatively so that falls are less likely. Ride with a little more wind with a better direction so your gear ends up on the beach. Touch down gybes...
