Re: North shift lock

I guess it's no different in concept to mounting your foil on moveable tracks. I have been perfectly happy for years with my tuttle connections. I guess eventually I will have to surrender to the inevitable.

Re: Does anyone reuse Kite boxes?

I don't think there's anything special about the boxes kites come in. Any box that comes into the house is either kept for storage or posting stuff off, if I'm currently selling stuff, or dismantled and put into the recycling bin. I do like to look at the design of the box while I am dismantling it....

Re: Warning, never do this!

Most countries have a rule that a working vessel has right of way when it's working.

I have a far better rule. Anything that can kill me, or even just annoy me a bit, has right of way. I call it "f*** that, I'm out of here!"

Re: How to get up on foil in light wind

I am having really pleasing results with my Gofoil 850-HA with a 10.5" (tiny) tail. The small tail has minimal drag and the foil is quite fast and efficient. I get my weight relatively far forward on the board, build up a little speed and it slides off the surface. I need enough front foot pressure ...

Re: WingFoil Waves Fall Techniques

I don't think there's such a thing as a fall-off technique. If I have contact with the board then there's every chance I'm going to ride out whatever thing is happening. That's part of the joy of foiling. If I don't have contact with the board then that means I've fallen and there's nothing I can do...

Re: Which is the durability of a carbon foil?

My kite foils are up to just under 900 hours. My wing foils are 300-400 depending on the combination of components I use. Virtually zero wear and tear. Virtually zero maintenance. I ride the foils into the sandy bottom all the time. The paint scratches and chips. I used to sand and paint. Now I just...

Re: Recommendation for ab exercises to prevent sore muscles

As has been said, kite more, jump more, jump with more intensity, tweak more in your jumps. I call BS on the ab exercises. It's not that you're doing something hard and need more strength. It's that you're doing something different and using the different muscles, or the same muscles differently. Ye...

Re: Heading Upwind When Not Foiling

The hold the front handles tip is good, but you can't just do that and leave it and hope for the best. It needs to be part of a constant assessment of how you're progressing and making ground upwind. Sit sailing is great. But it can be very unstable. It's super comfortable with your legs straddling ...

Re: Heading Upwind When Not Foiling

I have a North Mode Pro and the bottom end is fantastic, but underpowered it is horrible. The flatness and stiffness means it is very "stally" when underpowered. It won't just sit and catch the wind. My very well used bagged out old wings are far better underpowered. They are very light and sit very...

Re: Anyone use flippers?

Rule 1 of all personal water sports is to not go out further than you're prepared to swim in. My other rule 1 is to have a downwind landing option. On most occasions I use an inflatable kite because it's very easy to self rescue. Recently I have been experimenting with a single skin foil kite. Notio...
