How do you keep a depower rope from fraying???

I just bought a brand new depower rope and after one 1 session, the external layer of threading is already starting to look frayed. This one happens to be an '06 Waroo model, but this has happened to all my depower ropes, no matter which brand. Is there a coating or something I can apply to the rope...

Easy to modify C-kite bar for 16m Waroo?

I just bought a 2006 16m Waroo and was wondering how hard it is to modify my old C-kite control bar & depower system to work with this kite. Do I need to buy some kind of upgrade system, or can I just increase the length of the chicken loop rope from about 12 inches to about 18? Also, should I attac...

Should I just enjoy ocean downwinders and not worry so much about staying upwind? I do have a freind who claim...

Thanks for the advice, everyone! I bought some birch wood and have have started working on making my next kiteboard. From what I'm hearing, it sounds like board shape/size make all the difference when tryping to go upwind.

How important is board shape for going upwind?

I started kiting about a year ago, but am still having problems going upwind. I have been riding a 175cm old Hammersurf HTT board that is sort of football shaped (see pic below) and has about 2" of rocker. I can get back to where I started if I ride about 1 mile out from shore in flat water and then...
