Re: unbowtieing kite in ultra gust conditions tips?

The flag out method described above has worked for me in the past but it's hit and miss. Once the kite lays out, carefully release the pulled line but keep the brake handle pulled tight. Then tease the kite up into a nearly-launched position. Check the bridles and lines. You don't want to try to rel...

Re: Urethane rails?

A friend and I have a season on some boards made with Polytek 15-6. Tinted and plain off-white. Seems to be holding up. It's a little brittle at first, but once it's fully cured it seems to dent rather than crack. Had no issues with epoxy sticking. http://www.polytek.com/index.php?dispatch=categorie...

You might try bundling them next to a hand warmer in your pocket.

Re: Equipment used for kiteboard-camping ?

I bought a Coleman 2 burner stove thinking that would be the shit for kite camping. The thing had some plastic parts, and it leaked and caught fire the first time I used it. SCARY. I took it back and bought a "Camp Chef" two burner stove for about $10 more. I love that thing. It's all metal and work...

Re: kitesurfing holiday january 2013

I found the night life around Playa Copal to be adequate. Not clubs or bars, but a tight group of kiters at the local restaurant or around a bonfire on the beach. Things wind down around 11:00 or 12:00 because the forecast the next day will be killer. If you're about 20% night life and 80% kiting, i...

Re: Snowkiting progression/gear question

If you can kite decently on the water you'll have fun right away on the snow. A few different puzzles when you hit terrain but it's all fun. Just stay away from rocks and trees until you're up to speed. :D I've been an avid foil guy on the snow for 7 years. The past two summers I've flown inflatable...

Re: October Session

Looks like some good lawn mowing! Keep us posted on the conditions if you go back. We're still hitting the water around Great Falls but it's getting cold! Can't wait for snow. If the drive seems worth it I'll come down and bring friends. :D

Re: Problem with fin screws

A small drill bit and a screw extractor is a fairly cheap method that can prevent damage to the surrounding equipment. I've used 'em without the fancy holder before - just a pair of locking pliars... Use the size of drill bit specified on the package. The key for me was to tap it in with a hammer be...
