Re: Kiteskim? wakeskate? wakesurf?

Get a large Skimboard, 50"+. I've been riding them for years. Avoid super-lite carbon stuff, it literally blows away! Wake-surfers will work, but most seem slow. If you can start out with flat water it will help alot. Waves and chop take some time to get right.

Hope this helps!

Tona has the best valve connection. No stupid adapter! I still have a Epic big pump, that thing has lasted way longer than it should have.

Re: Kite Skimboard - worth it?

You just need more time on the skim. Fins will ruin it. I've had many different skimmers over the years, some with fins, but fin-less is best. The only time I used the fins was for wake-surfing.

Re: Upgrade my ancient GK Sonic bars

Ask some locals if they have any extra bars laying around. I have 2 extra, but I'm in the US.

Re: Skimboard?

I don't think there is a lite-wind lie. I have tested quite a few lite-wind TT's over the years back to back with my skimboards and can only remember the Glide as being better. Many have been as good or almost, but end up feeling like a boat. The skim is just another fun option for those willing to ...

Re: Skimboard?

Maybe your kite spot is better for surfboards, but mine surfboards suck. We get small waves and 6-9ft tides with lots of sand-bars. I prefer the slippery feel of the skimmer slicing through the water to the draggy feel of a surfboard with those fins. I'm interested why the sharp rails are less effic...

Re: Skimboard?

^^Agree, many moons ago before foils my shop owner suggested a skimmer for me to use in lite-winds. It takes awhile to get the technique, but it is worth it! I'm riding a sweet Wave Zone now and prefer a real skim over the kite skim.
