Re: Anyone kite in ultra shallow water?

The glassy flat water is great until you make a mistake. I've seen a few guys having months without kiting from damaged ankles and knees.

But it is super fun when the only ripple on the water is yours.

Re: I just don't know, should I give it another try?

I had a bad experience, I got lofted and dragged many meters and could not get myself loose from the kite. But things have progressed very far from those days. All you should do is familiarize yourself with the safety features you have. Choose your winds good. Don't go out in gusty conditions. Start...

Noosa, Queensland, Australia

I've kited once since moving from Western Australia. It wasn't a great day out, light wind with not much power to it. And the site of Sandgate was very shallow. Sometimes I long for the constant WA winds. But the other day we went four wheel driving North of Noosa and there is a stretch of beach I w...

Re: Western Oz Kite Size

May is not the best time to kite in Perth. Most of the winter you will kite in the frontal winds. Which you need to be very careful of. They change direction and strength in a mater of seconds. Further up the coast may be better conditions but still not the thermal winds we have in summer.

Re: Australia: wind conditions ?

Hi Arnaud, I live on the west coast and that is not the best time for Oz kiting. The winter can be unpredictable. look at http://www.seebreeze.com.au" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; I'm not sure what history is available but that is where the locals get their reports from. If sand or cleaning sand out is an issue. How about putting clear plastic faces on both sides so you can see if there is any sand inside just one side is fine and should solve the problem! I don't think drilling holes in it is going to help, it is just going to get more sand in it. If it is clear o...
