Re: New member of the kite forum

Hi there Gisela,

For me, it is great to see pro riders like you going for an apparently easier ride. Because you kite to the extreme, it just feels nice when you go for more cool riding. Could be waves or just plain fun or old school, just share it!

Cheers,

BK

Re: Where is the best place to live and kite in south portugal?

By the way, your combo is perfect, you will be using your 12m 90 percent of the time as well, except if you go more to Portimao, where the wind is stronger especially during the summer and in the afternoons. During winter the wind is not as good but you still get some great sessions, mostly during t...

Re: Where is the best place to live and kite in south portugal?

If you are working in Castro Verde, the coast line is still 90 km away - not easy to kite everyday, I guess. There are a lot of nice spots to kite in Southern Portugal, have you checked kitebeaches.com? Albufeira not the best spot for sure, check Ria de Faro, Portimao or close to Tavira instead, bet...

Re: portugal beginners trip

I agree with Stu on wind but not that Tarifa is the best spot to learn: you may end up with more wind than you can handle! It really depends on your current level, Tarifa is by no means a beginner's spot. Anyway, objectivity on the side, I guess I am pushing to get people in Portugal rather than Spa...

Re: portugal beginners trip

Forgot to mention where TO you're flying. Here is a comprehensive list of kite schools in Portugal: http://www.kitetuga.com/kiteforum/viewforum.php?f=5&sid=eef16993f8edfe3746c2e249f828a114 It is in portuguese however, guess it is time to dig out past experiences? Or is it your first time here? 4 day...

Re: roadtrippin' spain/portugal/morocco

Hi there Gerda,

Bragança is definitely not a kite spot You may find some dams around that might do the trick. In case you don't mind driving, go to Viana coast, north of Porto, where you will find great spots.

Happy kiting,

Re: Is it just me or..............................?

As you mentioned, wear a brain! Now seriously, I suffer from this as well but I already had a synus condition before kiting. Actually kiting has reduced these symptoms because the water you feel getting in actually helps cleaning the synuses. Unless you kite in foul water, which I am sure is not the...

Re: Deadly kite accident reported from Tarifa

Very true Cabarete_Dom and that's when the steps marc just mentioned make all the difference: a good insurance is key to cover accident costs that may still happen and regulating the places where you can kite should minimize any impact on other people. We are facing kite ban issues in Portugal, fort...

Re: does a board exist that...

Actually the one I tried was custom built and yes, it was the same type of North FreeStyle Fish.

I was amazed at how free the board felt, if you're really into that. For now, still exploring surfing with more grip and carving turns.
