Re: FS - 15m Ozone Manta 2

Thanks Brian. The spot pictured is Flathorn Lake in the lower Su Valley - about 20 miles as the crow flies northwest of Anchorage. But to get there from Anchorage is a 1.5 hour drive up through Wasilly, then a 30 minute snow machine ride. The terrain is better than you'd think for a frozen lake in t...

FS - 15m Ozone Manta 2

I just upgraded to an M3, so my 15m Ozone Manta 2 has got to go. It's green/black, no tears, no repairs. Package includes the bar, lines, canopy, and pack. Message me through this board if you're interested, and I'll get you some detailed pictures. I'm thinking $750. Thanks all! Happy kiting. By the...

Re: Alaska/Alyeska kiting?

Moose Meadows in Girdwood offers a small area to kite in, and it's right there at Aly. Otherwise, you're in for 20-Mile, Portage, or Placer, all of which have iffy snow conditions right now. Turnagain Pass is in very good shape, and we are expecting an easterly to start today and go through Sunday. ...

AK Kiter Heading to UT & ID

Hey all, I'm heading down to the SLC area for three weeks this Dec/Jan. About half of the time I'll be up in Island Park. I was hoping to meet up with some folks who may be able to show me around a little bit. I've never been to Skyline or Strawberry, and I've only kited a tiny part of Island Park b...

Re: Warm water, steady wind, 3 months of family time.

AK = Alaska. Arkansas is AR or AS or something else besides AK. South Padre is a good thought, thanks, but we are looking for something a little more...exotic. Nothing against Texas. As for my wife being happy, she is a kite surfer also. This is actually her idea. So the Caribean...that sounds nice....

Warm water, steady wind, 3 months of family time.

Hi, I am looking for advice for my wife and I who are having a baby next February. She knows that the only way to keep me away from skiing everyday is if we go somewhere warm with our newborn, so we're looking to spend next April, May, and June hanging out and kitesufing. Now we just need the locati...

Re: alaska kite festival june 20to 25

Great stuff! I know the Anchorage area kiters will be into this. I was just down this past weekend checking out the Caribou Hills - the potential is endless out there. Thanks to local kiter Mike for showing me around. I added a Homer weather post to my website, if anybody is looking for forecast and...

Re: Ozone Alaskan Snowkite Tour 2008

Turnagain is firing right now and we're going into the consistent season. I wouldn't skip it if you're in the area and it's blowing. Drop me a PM and I'll let you know if it's happening down there; if it is, I'll need a partner anyway!

later...

Re: The Best Ski for Freestyle and Backcountry Snowkiting

My kiting buddy rides Sumos mounted with Dynafits. I have to admit being jealous when we're in waist deep, and he's up on plane, while me on my 97 underfoot skis sink deep. Well look at that. Sumos can fly! http://www.eastofanchorage.net/imagejournal/kiting/2007.12.27_IslandPark_Corrals/03.jpg I use...
