Re: beginner foil

I'd say Foil has it about right. Everyones learning curve will be different if your a newer kiter with limited directional experience and soso kite skills the learning curve will be like climbing mount everest. I was told over and over how hard it was how weird it is and how bad the crashes are. Whi...

Re: beginner foil

ive got the north speedster and north pro foil board. Still getting use to it as im changing foils constantly im on my 3rd one in less then 2 years. The speedster so far is pretty forgiving and the winglets seem to keep it from stalling when really cranked hard on its side. For me it lacks top end b...

Re: Bladder repair on RRD Obsession 10.5 mk8(2016)

I've been having super bad bladder luck the last couple years. I hate to say it but replacement bladders are the only way to go. No guessing if the patch will hold or if your seal is tight. I've tried the iron trick, the type A trick, the only one i havent tried is the impulse sealer don't really kn...

Re: North Trust bar 2018

Did this happen on safety or did the kite slack and then reinflate in a gust? I just had this issue over the winter snowkiting. Mine snapped on safety and can't say for sure if it was my fault or not. I was using it on a pivot and had a funky not normal bridle wrap around a wing tip (devil gusts and...

Re: How far do you drive to kite?

hehe. 2 hour minimum with RV for the closest waterspot. Snowkiting is an hour by car. typically 3-4 hours for the the good spots. and for epic Columbia gorge kiting is around 10 hours well worth the trip. I spend way more on gas and rv maintenance then kite gear. I dream about moving somewhere close...

Re: Any paragliding pilots around here?

Being a PG pilot in the EU. Not for me any more. To many good people lost, ppg and pg, one of the best did not see an unmarked power lines. Enough said. Saw the same thing here too! The guy next to you in training with the wife and small children might not have a dad from one mistake! It certainly ...

Re: Any paragliding pilots around here?

As a former paragliding pilot. If I could do it all over I would probably pick PPG for many reasons. Number 1 is flight time. go whenever you want as long as its early morning or nearing glass off evening time as you progress I'm sure running midday and thermaling would also be an option. As far a k...

Re: Foiling - only for frequent riders or occasionals as well

I’m getting curious about foiling and seek the advice of those who have tried and liked it, and those who haven’t 1) Wanted to know whether the effort and expense would pay off for the occasional rider? 2) Is it really for those who go regularly? 3) Relative to starting with a TT, is it significant...

Re: How often do you get chased by dogs?

I had a mutt long ago literally run up and bite my brand new kite first time. Some surgery in a hotel room got it going again. Owner said he'd pay for the damage never did. If your kite is in the air its safe and probably funny but when launching they don't understand and try to nip and bite at it. ...
