Re: 2018 LF Thruster Foil

Hi tmcfaria I have the thruster and I am very happy with it. Can you tell us why you like the Lift 110 more? I am guessing because its lighter being carbon fibre. First off, they are quite similar and both great foils. Lift is easier to start in shallow water (probably directly because of weight), ...

Have you noticed the wind range is shifted forward relative to the Element v6? Why is that?
I would expect to be the other way around.
Probably because charts are based on a twintip rider. For foil boarding you just need a kite to stay in the air, it doesn’t need to deliver much power.

Re: 2018 LF Thruster Foil

Interesting that in 2018 LF has the Impulse wings/foil (in collaboration with Cloud IX) and the Thruster wings (designed by Matt Wheeler). I currently ride original Liquid Force FF wings/foil in the waves. I am into riding real ocean waves and wondering which is the way to go. I was leaning towards...

Re: Moving from heavier to lighter foil

I recently switched to a lighter foil (Zeeko to lift 110). There is a dramatic difference in the ease of water starts, and this is probably directly due to weight (foil doesn’t sink as quickly). That is probably the only difference due to weight though. The two foils have very different characterist...

Re: Replacement swivel for 4line flag out

I agree with about above about best swivel beI got non-existent, but would add that most modern bars now have a below-the-bar manual swivel, and these are good . My 2017 liquid force bar has a below the bar untwist.

Re: Looking for an American builder for a crazy idea of mine

Why not just built a shinnster style plate for a production split board? Foil boards and TT have massively different flex requirements, so I think you’ll need a detachable plate. Note that unless you are a fairly competent foiler, you probably won’t be happy with the shape/volume of a twin tip for f...

Re: Timing when carving

Do you use really small kites when foiling ? For a long time I was going out on as small a kite as I could use and having a lot of trouble with carving to toe-side, as soon as I switched to using a slightly larger kite (maybe 1-2 m smaller than surfboard size), it clicked pretty much right away. Als...

Re: Vacuum pumps

If you don’t need much compression, you could use extra large vacuum bags (from amazon) and a household vacuum cleaner. It pulls hard enough to hold everything in place and should be fine if you don’t need to follow any complex curves.

Re: FS speed 5 vs Sonic V1

Disclaimer- I’m an lei guy, though I tried to get into foils a couple times. Foils have to be tuned, and sometimes have their bridles replaced. This isn’t a bad thing (tube kites need maintenance too), but it does mean that if you are buying used you may have no idea of what the kite should feel lik...
