Re: 2017 Lift Foils

Haven’t used a Zeeko carver or 150, but had Zeeko black and white and now use 110. I would think the 110 is probably pretty comparable to carver in terms of low end. 110 has way better low-speed abilities than the Zeeko black and white. For my weight (150 pounds/70 kg), I can’t imagine needing a lar...

Re: new 2017/2018 Naish Boxer

Question. I have the 12m boxer. It's a pretty well behaved kite. Like the relaunch. Doesn't seem to get too crazy when powered up. However I have a lot of trouble with the kite backstalling. I just got a 10m boxer, and have same issue, I’ve been foiling with 3 strut and 0 strut kite for the past co...

Re: What wood for mast core?

I wouldn’t worry about strength-to-weight ratio, a wood core will be light either way. I would be most concerned with how well a wood shapes in the cnc. I would think any durable softwood that shapes well and is easy to get would be fine.

Re: Kite foiling and sargassum?

I have not tried foiling in sargassum yet, but if you have anything like what I’ve seen in Barbados the past two years, don’t bother, it won’t be possible. Even tiny patches of seaweed can through you off a foil, I don’t see any way to get through the large mats of sargassum I’ve seen, where even su...

Re: Slingy & LF taking competitor wings

What message are Slingy and LF sending that they have to go to competitors and incorporate their wings? Are they not innovative enough to come up with their own? I think the message they are sending is that they are working to grow the sport by supporting smaller businesses and individuals with goo...

Re: fastest free ride hydrofoil?

Of the foils I’ve used (liquid force thruster, Lift 110, and zeeko black and white). Zeeko is definitely the best for speed. Top end on all is pretty similar but zeeko wants to go fast while the others are willing to go fast with sufficient prodding. The lift is my favorite, but zeeko is better for ...

Re: FlowFoils! Coming soon. Need advise!

^ what he said. Best advice you’ll get. Lift is an established brand with a good reputation, so it will have to be either a lot cheaper than lift or significantly differentiated from their offerings. If I were trying to make a cheap setup, I’d definitely save money by doing a paipo like board instea...

Re: 2 kites quiver: 8m and 12m?

I would not like to have that big a gap, but it is do-able. If your interest in a two kite quiter is to save money, I’ll second the advice to get three kites from a cheaper brand. If you have an unusual situation where you really need to save space (live on a sailboat, etc). I guess it can work, but...

Re: 2018 LF Thruster Foil

Hi tmcfaria I have the thruster and I am very happy with it. Can you tell us why you like the Lift 110 more? I am guessing because its lighter being carbon fibre. First off, they are quite similar and both great foils. Lift is easier to start in shallow water (probably directly because of weight), ...

Have you noticed the wind range is shifted forward relative to the Element v6? Why is that?
I would expect to be the other way around.
Probably because charts are based on a twintip rider. For foil boarding you just need a kite to stay in the air, it doesn’t need to deliver much power.
