Re: O.R. Mako 08 Surf Directional

I've riden this board through the inland chop and wind driven waves of puget sound in winds up to about 35kts. My old poly would have been a rough ride beating upwind, but not this board. The construction, flipped tip and concave hull shape really hooks in hard and drives fast and smooth over rough ...

Re: Fragility of conventional surfboards for kiting ?

Interesting stuff. I've noticed that this Mako surf that OR sent me for being logging the 1,000th hour on the session log is way different than the polyester directional I was using before. They claim it is the worlds first production directional to use snowboard construction techniques. I have no i...

Re: Trainers

Ocean Rodeo offers 2 training kites that are actually small inflatable 4-line marine traction machines designed to generate enough pull to yank grandpa Joe, or some rug rat, onto to his nose, and send him to the hospital. http://www.oceanrodeo.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; The...

Re: What wave board?

I've been using the mako surf in wind driven inland waves so far. Not in the surf yet. Two things jumped out at me right off the bat though. Smooth, no vibration in the chop. Points very high, almost effortless to gain ground upwind. I need more time to really compare to the polyester board it repla...

Sweet website dude! You've got me drooling to try the new vented Diablo, my 06' is still my most ass-kicken kite. I think you look cooler in white frames, think about it.... :naughty: http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2084/2193737197_d584241101.jpg http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1317/1121278242_ffc1c79...

I love the 14m 07', and still have the original bridal. That bridal doubled the amount of de-power throw, and allowed me to get really specific with my power without over sheeting. I never had any issues with backstalling, but after I put on the 08' bridal I was totally blown away. This is one the b...

The mako wide is a better choice.
I've owned all 3 mako's, and the wide is my favorite because it makes everything so effortless and has enough length to really feel like a wave machine. Its a beautiful piece of engineering.

you'll really like this...
I flew a 14m Rise (07' with the 08' bridle) and an 08' 10m rebel back to back.
The Rise had less bar pressure and turned almost as fast.
I was amazed. (Rebel is a very good kite too)
