Re: Fatality in France

Braugnoff, exactly as you say - right on every point How can you say these deaths could have been prevented with YOUR way of working. Your method would not work in 40knts and hooked launch is way more controlled, ofcourse there is always a chance for things to go wrong but to simply blaim it on thei...

Re: Fatality in France

See my launch unhooked thread in the safety topic. I realize that much of the hate and nastiness to my posts is because people have not watched the videos and think launch unhooked = both hands on the bar (maybe with death grip if something goes wrong). That's not what I mean - again, watch the vide...

Re: How to self launch a kite

3:25 hooked in, walking away from the kite with your back to the kite NONONONONONONONo. Don't show your back to the kite, especially if you are hooked in! Keep your eyes on potential line snags, line damage over sharp objects (coral, sharp rocks), and wind gusts / wind shifts that could launch your ...

Re: attach carbine hook to spreader bar

I would say bad idea. If something is wrong with your donkey dick or spreader bar, buy a urethane hose of appropriate diameter (super cheap at any hardware store) and jam/force it over the donkey dick to make it stiffer and / or longer. Wait, that came out wrong... I didn't mean... like.... OK now I...

Re: Felt like I Nearly Drowned

Light wind and big waves = I have learned to say NO - turn around and go skateboarding or something Big waves and rented equipment (you are unfamiliar with, may be tuned wrong, may fail on you at any time) - NOPE NOPE NOPE NOPE.... If kite hits the drink in the waves, check that nobody downwind or d...

Re: HP kite video ; ideal kite for surfers ? - relaunch from water

Having the kite radically change shape opens so many new doors on depower levels... I can't even imagine.
And autozenith is golden in waves (there's no better feeling than resurfacing after being worked and finding your kite waiting for you over your head!)

We may be on the cusp of a revolution!

Re: Vote for Dimitri KOTA video

I read somewhere that when a British engineer developed the first turbine engine for warships, he was not allowed to demonstrate his invention at the annual Navy display to the Queen. So he got some funds to buy an old warship and fitted his engine to it. Then on the day of the Navy display he spent...

Re: PEI - A Kiteboarding Discovery Film from Cabrinha

Beautiful video!
Also, all their freestyle riders are wearing a knee brace. Come to think of it, the freestylers in my beach are also usually wearing a knee brace. I'm sure there's a lesson in there somewhere, but I just can't put my knee on it....

Re: Snap Shackle problem

Hi downunder, just make a knot from the rope to your harness; when you are finished your session, if it's too tight just cut it with a pair of scissors. It's not any less safe than the shackle you are using! And it's cheaper!!
