Re: Dealing with a real world death loop in 30 knot conditions

everything is much much much better now than 10 years ago. 1) the kite bridles are shorter. it used to be every day you would hear of someone getting a wing tip bridle wrap. That is very rare now thanks to shorter bridles. Yay! that's a perfect example of brands 'designing-out' a known issue :thumb...

Re: Dealing with a real world death loop in 30 knot conditions

15 years on after the first death loop deaths we have seen barely any discussion of this from brands. It is almost as if their designers are so inexperienced that they don't actuallt know. sad but true  any kite manufacturers / reps care to comment? are brands motivated to 'design out' this kn...

Re: new type of bar suggestion?

here's Aaron Hadlow's description of a wipeout at the 2014 king of the air - presumably someone has the video footage somewhere? "I didn’t do myself any favours when I boosted into one of my biggest loops of the day, then came in and tried another close to the beach where I broke my board and caught...

Re: new type of bar suggestion?

With most of my bars (North, Zeeko, Naish) you have elastic bungee straps that are used to keep the lines wound when not in use. If you were to put them on whilst riding it would stop (reduce?) the chance of tangles because the gap to wind the lines up wouldn't be there any more? not sure that woul...

Re: new type of bar suggestion?

or you could just have smooth, curved bar ends all the time - and just learn to wind up your lines the 'old' way - figure of 8's around the middle.

That's the way we all used to do it and honestly doesn't take that much longer

Re: new type of bar suggestion?

pretty much every bar has that 'design-fault'

what i'm suggesting are pop-out tabs that enable the bar ends to be smooth / curved / snag-free while you're kiting

then when you finish - you pop out the tabs on each end of the bar and wind up as normal...

new type of bar suggestion?

quite a few changes to kitebars this year particularly North and Cabrinha... Personally - what i would like to see (and would buy) - is a bar that DESIGNS OUT line snags / leash snags on those stupidly large bullhorn linewinders on the end of most bars. This one design fault has landed kiters of all...
