Re: Switchblade 11m experience?

I have a 2017 11m SB. I would agree with the comment that a 12m would be better if you already have a 9m. I use my SBs strapless in onshore conditions and they are fine. I also use them with my twin tips and love the air they give me. I tried the FX but the glide wasn’t there. Although the SB is not...

Re: Min wind for king gee 150x50, contra 15m and 85kgs

I am 80 kg and with my Contra 15m and King Gee 146x46 I can comfortably stay upwind at 9 knots, I would be jumping at 11 or 12. I would say that the key at those wind speeds is not having lulls. 5 gusting 10 knots won’t work.

Re: Advise on true wind range of 12m Cabrinha Switchblade 2016

On my 2015 12m SB I can stay upwind on my Shinn King Gee if the wind is a steady 10 knots, and I am 10 lbs heavier. You might need more wind initially as a beginner and board size has a lot to do with it as well, but 12 to 14 knots and I think you would be quite happy. If I had to guess, people are ...

Re: Kite collapsing on itself during down loop !

I haven’t had that issue with my SBs of that vintage. If the kite losing some inflation pressure don’t forget to check the O ring in the inflation valve - a few grains of sand will cause a slow leak that can be hard to find unless you know what to look for. Cold water does not measurably affect kite...

Re: Hard shell harnesses comparison

I was skeptical of the hard shell harnesses, I figured it was a fad. I have been using the Dakine Pyro for 11 years without any issues. Anyhow, I tried on the Dakine C1 and was initially underwhelmed, but then I hung back off the rope in the store and as soon as my weight was on it I was surprised a...

Re: Cabrinha Fireball update

With my kids kiting we have three harnesses and 6 bars for our 7 Cab kites. Switching to the fireball would be very expensive, to fix what?

Re: What don't you like about foiling.

I switched to kiting 11 years ago because the gear is so easy to travel with. I am so not getting into foiling - expensive as hell, huge gear, just not what I signed up for. Watching people swim in with kites, lines and foil board is not a selling feature. And btw, you aren't pissing off the wild li...

Re: Core XR Vs Cabrinha Switchblade

My 13 year old daughter is 110 pounds and can fly a SB for hours and doesn't seem to have any bar pressure issues (my SB's range from 2013 to 2016). The biggest Cabrinha kite she flew this summer was a 13m Contra, again no bar pressure issues. But then she is definitely stronger than most of the ele...

New Shinn Lineup

Just saw the new boards at, they look great. The ratcheting straps look awesome as well.
