Vietkiter is the most right. Shallow water makes a massive difference. Also the shallower water is also flatter with less large waves pushing you the same direction as the wind, therefore reducing wind speed at the kite. I also agree with fxeric to a certain degree although I don't think it changes ...

Greater low end AND depower? Possible?

Hi, For years every new kite which has been release has had attached to it a blurb about "insane depower" and "awesome bottom end." Not one kite has ever delivered. Kites either have large range but sucky light wind characteristics (X3, Rhino4 types) or great bottom end and bugger all depower (X4, R...

Kitefilm or kiteflix had an instructional video of this on kiteforum fairly recently. Do a search in the videos section. Someone else may have the direct link.

Hi Alex, Get "Sparrow" from torquay to take a look at your kite. He seems to be able to fix just about anything. My mate has torn kites in half and you can't even tell they've been repaired. He also usually gets them back to you in two days. According to all reports, he's the man!

Hi, Straps and pads are by far the nicest I've ever ridden. Feels like your riding on butter. The only problem is they are VERY hard to attach onto your board. You have to pull the straps apart and even then it is very difficult to get the straps and pads on with the one screw. When you get them (wh...

Rockhampton Kiteboarding Advice

Hi Guys,
Got a kiting friend who has just landed a new job in Rockhampton. Was wondering what the kiteboarding scene is like up there. What are the winds like, when do they blow, where does everyone kite from (Yeppoon, Gladstone etc.) Any info would be great!
Cheers.

It depends what you want to do and how big you are. A small fast shape surfboard 6'4" or less will get you kiting and having fun in those marginal winds but depending on how big you are may not be any good for surfing on those offshore/windless days. I've got an old 6'3" which I use to kite. My 6'10...
