Can I get away with sealing with poly - from the advice on the forum I plan to do a spit coat half thinner/half poly then 6 or so coats of poly but is poly enough to stop the water getting i...

Yeah Bay surfer if you have the time some pics would be great, I'm at the pad stage too. Kneeling pads - is there another name for this in Uk english - do you mean what floor layers strap to their knees? Went to an outdoor store and played around with the camping mats but they all seemed to rip quit...

I'm trying to make my first and super simple symmetrical ply board and already got help here + zero prestige and like their idea about jumping up and down to get the stance outline right. But despite having looked here and elsewhere, I can't find anything about where the straps should be positioned ...

Why epoxy? What's wrong with varnish?

Sorry for the ignorance but I need a little help in understanding why a plywood board needs epoxy coating. Is it for strength? Or to make a smooth, beautiful surface? What are the real benefits? Can I get away with just 2 coats or so of varnish onto the naked ply and if so, what's the best type? Any...

Thanks I saw that and it's really useful as well as being a superbly written site but it doesn't talk about the stepped rail ie whether, from a plan view, it should have a niche cut in there. Any ideas, do the advantages in terms of tracking, grip outweigh any braking effect it may have from disrupt...

Simplest ply board=no fins=stepped rail?

Hi, I'm looking to create a simple but effective first-time plywood board (both making it and using it) Bearing in mind I'm 75kilos/165lbs, will be doing this in 12mm/half inch marine ply and no glassing or anything else, pure wood. I want to keep it simple therefore no fins. (This is realistic righ...
