Re: Resin8 USA status

Actually, there are a limited number of the Resin8 surfboards available at Resin8USA.com. We were having a problem with the All Products link from Zen Cart displaying "Out of Stock", so that link has been removed. These boards are now out of production forever, and once the stock is gone, then they ...

Re: Kahoona v2

I am an instructor and I have been flying the Waroos for a couple of years now since 2008. I flew last year's Kahoona, but was not quite sold as I loved the '09 Waroo. This past spring I was teaching a couple of students in 15-20 knots of wind, and got a chance to fly my '09 13 Waroo back to back wi...

Re: St. Lucia in January

This past year was a bust for kiteboarding in the Caribbean. El Nino sucks for tradewinds. But La Nina is making a comeback, and there should be good trades in the Caribbean this season starting in January. St. Lucia is not super windy as there is not as much of a thermal boost as other islands, but...

Re: Best 13.5 Kahoona - What's your take?

I am an instructor for 8 years now, and have been flying the Waroos for the past couple of years. I mostly ride waves strapless these days, so I wanted something that turns fast and relaunches easy for teaching. I got the 5.5, 9.5 and 13.5 Kahoonas this year, and have had a couple of sessions. The d...

Re: Save my ass by inches!!!

I was teaching a land lesson on the beach one day here in St. Augustine Beach with a front expected to push through. We were flying a 6 meter Best Guroo in fading west winds around 10 mph. I was watching a line of clouds to our north, but it did not look menacing like our afternoon summer thundersto...

Re: Finding a cheap surfboard or kite surfboard in the US

You could always build your own:

Nah, but seriously, check with the surf shops. A cheap fiberglass board will work as long as you don't try any huge jumps.

Re: Does anyone ride a fish?

I have been riding surfboards for several years now, starting strapless for light wind in the Florida summer, and then using straps for high winds and bigger surf on downwinders. I use a fish for a light wind kiteboard, and it planes out the same as a Spleene Door or similar light wind board. I weig...

Re: What about a small surf board for light winds and waves?

If you are just starting out riding a directional in the waves, riding strapless is a great way to learn to jibe and get your balance on a surfboard. Once you have ridden strapless for a couple of months on a normal polyester surfboard, chances are the deck will be all pressure dinged and banged up,...

Re: New Resin8's Rock

I have been riding Resin8 surfboards with NSI straps and pads for 2 years now, and have yet to find anything else that compares. My favorite shape for Florida head high to overhead surf is the 6'1" squash tail, but lately I have been riding the 6'2" round pin. I have had to epoxy the middle pad with...

Here is a shot of me in 20 knot offshore conditions behind the south end of Green Turtle Cay in the Abaco islands of the Bahamas.
