Re: What board has the "grippiest" edge ?

If you want "grip" you need drag. look for soft rails and plenty of rocker. I'm personally not a big fan of this style of riding so I can't say I have tried a thing recent, but jimmy Lewis boards come to mind.

Re: Snow kiting with skis

Hi it's been about eight years since I have done any snow kiting but normal skis are fine and are the ticket for icy or bare ice conditions. The trick for ice is to get a good sharpening tool and use it to put a really sharp edge on the inside edge of each ski, not the whole edge but only about 6-8"...

Re: How is puerto rico for kitesurfing and for surfing on ja

From what I understand February in cabarete is just comming out of the rainy season and is a total crapshoot for any wind. Having said that I went once for a week in the middle of February and got 5 days of 7- 10 meter wind afternoon riding conditions with diminishing swell over the week. I believe ...

Re: Need advice - Bridle line sheath worn out

Hey, I could be wrong but those look like Ronstan kite blocks. They look like cheap plastic but they have less friction than the metal sliders and they are very light weight. If they are Ronstan brand, the ones I have had on my kites last a few years at the very least, even with heavy use.

Re: Sarasota FL kiteboarding info need it

Is it V from Chicago? Turtle beach gets some good waves sometimes. I live within walking distance. Venice jetty about 1/2 hour south gets some fantastic waves sometimes. The frontal winds are generally N-NE which side-off and unrideable but sometimes you can catch the NW wind right at the bgeinning ...

Offsetting the foot straps only makes the board behave like a narrower board on heelside and totally screws up toeside.

I very rarely ride on toeside in a light wind...[/quote]

Re: Light Wind Board

Hi, I'm 84 kg. I like 150x46 cm with 2,5 cm or even 2cm rocker. Relatively square outline but still a natural curve around 2.5 cm in from the center towards the tips. Ideally, the flatter the rocker, the more you want the board to flex. You want it to take off fast but then flex so that it slows dow...

Re: Is a bi-directional Alaia possible?

The $10 boards at the grocery store and beach shops are made for little kids and you will probably find them much too small and fragile for kiting. As for the $200 boards, I've seen guys wo are really good at it run and drop them on the shore wash on a steep beach, ride the shore wash out 50-60 feet...

Re: how mutch vac to use ?

i'm using only polythene film over the laminate, no release no breather. If you are not using a peel ply and breather, then how do you expect the bubbles to come out of the laminate? Where do you expect the excess resin to go? With excess resin in the laminate, how do you expect the pressure exerte...

Re: Kite scooter could outpace raceboards: Prototype video

Hi, is this like the sail rocket where the front foil is actually generating downward force counter to the kite? Pretty freaking cool. Are you the same guy that started out with a kayak hull? I remember seeing that and thinking it needed a planing hull instead of displacement. Is it possible to add ...
