Re: UV protection for digital printing

First line of defense will always be resin system. Gurit SP115 is very good. As for UV inks and mediums they all eventually get nailed by UV no matter how good they are. http://www.gurit.com/files/documents/SP_115_v6.pdf SP115 is the dogs dangly bits, it is what I used to use. If you are going prec...

Re: Glass over urethane rails

I found with the stuff I use and which will remain nameless, sorry guys. As the PU cures it leaves a slightly damp residue, its really important to remove that and the 40 grit then provides a mechanical key for the epoxy, glass to bond to. Done 10 + boards with this PU and its amazin, not one delam ...

Re: Pre-cured topsheet question

Ive been in love with mylar for years, works great on my bottom sheet, and tried for a while with my top sheet in a one shot build but always got air bubbles migrating to the top sheet and causing problems, have you any problems with air bubbles with the precast top sheet? or is the precast sheet e...

Re: Urethane rails?

With a shore hardness of 90 what could you compare it to in the real world. A roller skate wheel? Can you dig your finger nail into it? Did you de-gas your pots or would they go off to quickly? I am not sure is roller skate wheels use the same scale. Basically if you are going to give the PU system...

Re: Urethane rails?

I have been casting kiteboard rails with PU for over 7 years and never had a board or rail fail yet. I have kept my process real quiet so the big bully boy companies don't steal the ideas that I have built up but now I am I will share some of it with you :-) The stuff I use rated Shore 90 and cures ...

Re: Pre-cured topsheet question

Brilliant! Thanks for all the great info and the video. Your mate looks very happy with his efforts and rightly so. Can I just check one thing. When you wet out the scrim/decals/4 oz you don't put that under a vac bag? Just working it by hand an leaving it to cure is fine? Using fibreglass scrim is...

Re: Pre-cured topsheet question

i've heard that vac bagging a top coat with mylar gives a glass like finish you simply peal the mylar off afterward. so its essentially a resin layer. haven't tried it myself yet tho!. let me know if it works. It works a treat trust me :-) The purpose is to obtain a thin skin which is resin as that...
