Re: Where to ride 2 months this winter ?

Cape Town? There is a lagoon at Langebaan -- it will be busy until mid February and then gets much more quiet and chilled. The seafront beaches are much more advanced and there are plenty to choose from. The great thing about Cape Town is there is so much else to do as well as kite: great food, worl...

Re: Road trip South Africa in December: Durban - CT

St. Francis is a good kitespot. Nearer Cape Town itself: Witsand/Breede River - nice flatwater spot Hermanus - kite the lagoon East of the town One of my favourite places to stay out that way is the De Hoop nature reserve. They do a dinner, bed and breakfast package. Zebras graze while you have your...

Re: Most Dangerous and aggresive locations in the SE UK

Do not engage with this person. He is a serial litigant and the BKSA stepped in to defend various people he vexatiously tried to sue. It wen't nowhere (because it was vexatious) but was stressful to the people involved. There was no "costs order". Toby - I don't know what your policy is on banning p...

Re: Wetsuit Colours

What a coincidence. There was a "Dragon's Den" TV episode last week where two entrepreneurs from Cornwall (if I remember) were pitching the 5 millionaires for an investment in their wetsuit company that makes ... colourful wetsuits. None of the big shots invested, not because they didn't like the id...

Re: Kitesurf Spots: Breede River, South Africa

Thanks Toby. I would add two things: it is a ~4h drive there and back from Cape Town so going there and back in a single day can be a bit tiring. You can stay locally but one of my favourite places to visit is not much further along the coast ... the De Hoop nature reserve. The last few kms of the d...

Re: Alternative to brazil, november-december

Hi Langebaan gets busy between Dec 27 and mid Feb but even then if you get past the schools and crowds near the shore there is usually space in the middle of the lagoon. But everything in life is relative ... it is never as busy as Tarifa in July haha. Witsand is nice but is a long drive from Cape T...

Re: Alternative to brazil, november-december

ape Town. Statistically November is the windiest month (measured as number of days in % above Beaufort 4). There is a flat water lagoon at Langebaan (Shark Bay). Note that the "sharks" here are tiny dogfish, so do not worry haha. November is a great month to visit Cape Town ... the flower are in blo...

Sponsored place for Instagram-savvy rider

It's that time of year when we try to find someone to take up a sponsored place at Cape Town Kite Club. You will ride to a decent standard - maybe a team rider / shop rider or just "pretty good" and you will enjoy going down to the beach with your friends and a camera so you come back with some foot...

They are great kites and I am sure they will remain great kites.

As for the name, the first thing I thought of was "fake tan" product. :)

Re: I'll have to change my name now North Kiteboarding is no more..

It all reminds me a bit of when Volkswagen purchased Rolls-Royce (motor cars) from Vickers knowing that the brand name is actually controlled by Rolls-Royce plc (the aero-engine maker) and the latter gets to decide who can and who cannot use the name to produce cars. VW thought they could somehow fo...
