Re: Downwind for Dummies - a basic kite surfing theory

But seriously - tell me what part you don't believe.

Is it that you think I actually DID discover perpetual motion?
Is it that you think the videos are faked?
Neither, it is just a nice party trick!!

Re: Downwind for Dummies - a basic kite surfing theory

I haven't quite eaten my hat yet!!! Let's consider the cart as chugging along at 12 mph in a 10 mph tailwind. The energy available at the wheels is equal to force felt at the wheel/road interface times the speed the cart is going on the road. This is as measured in the reference frame of the cart. I...

Re: Downwind for Dummies - a basic kite surfing theory

I understand (the inertia fields) but I don't understand where the energy is coming from to make the cart accelerate in the real world!!! Your treadmill is providing lots of energy into the system as I assume your cart will accelerate faster the faster the treadmill goes. As turning the front wheels...

Re: Downwind for Dummies - a basic kite surfing theory

Spork, I really like your cart but I think there is a flaw in your demonstration of it on the treadmill. In essence the treadmill is creating the motion of the wheels that in turn drives the prop. Because of the prop pitch the cart moves forward once a certain speed is reached. The only issue is tha...

Re: Aaron Hadlow has secured his 5:e World Titles!

I doesn't make a difference what Kevin does. If Kevin wins Aaron will come second (worst place you can get from a singles win) that gives them the same number of points after discards. the next part of the count is to include the discards and Aaron wins as his worst result is a second and Kevin has ...

Re: atom 08?

The atom 08 does not need you to swim to relaunch. All you have to do is grap the front lines by the swivel and pull towards you and then let go to get the kite to roll on to its back a bit then sheet the bar in and point the bar at the kite and watch it go to the side of the window and relaunch. Th...

It can be done, just remember to cover the cleat with the neoprene sock as the kite angle of attack should not be altered when using the bridles. The 5th line needs to be slack when flying. (To be honest it is not really needed as the mini fifth does a great job in 4 line mode)
