Re: What type of lightwind board?

I have 3 boards for light wind, my weight is 86 kg. Crazy fly 135x46 good: small board feeling. works well in flat water after 8/10 knots, good for kite 14 or smaller. bad: chop conditions and big kites(17,18 and 21) don't work well with this board. can you please elaborate on the crazyfly - is it ...

Re: Average Joe Kite Review- Light wind kites

maybe you should get the riders to rate out of 10 each kite attribute: - low end - upwind - bar pressure (rather than out of 10, low, moderate or high) - looping - re launch - drift - speed across the window - lift - hang time - top end to still ride safely, before changing down kite sizes - bar etc...

Re: Airush Slayer (New), Sector V4 and Monaro V5

Slightly off topic but seeking Mikes advice I have a Sector V3 60. I have recently bought a single fin for the rear position but the shop gave me the V4 version (240mm). So I have a 240mm rear single fin instead of 220mm (recommended for V3). The front fins are 240mm. Mike, will this work or should ...

Re: Best way to smooth the landing during a big air

. Always prone to downlooping more than forward looping. What is the diff b/n downlooping and forward looping? To me a downloop is looping the kite with your front hand, down toward the water, transition, kite turns 180, and you ride in the opposite direction. A forward loop starts the same, but yo...

Re: Best way to smooth the landing during a big air

the kite needs to move through the air to have pull or lift and since it is almost always over your head hight even when down looping it slows your drop This explanation makes the most sense to me. Not sure about the airplane analogy. When a plane is diving toward the ground I don't think it is gen...

Re: Best way to smooth the landing during a big air

This is interesting to me.

I know to land softly on a jump you re-direct the kite forwards. You can continue and complete the downloop.

Can someone explain the science of this to me?

It seems so counter intuitive - why does redirecting the kite forward and toward the water, give you lift?

Re: Calculating Aspect Ratios

From wikipedia In aerodynamics, the aspect ratio of a wing is essentially the ratio of its length to its breadth (chord). A high aspect ratio indicates long, narrow wings, whereas a low aspect ratio indicates short, stubby wings. For most wings the length of the chord is not a constant but varies al...
