Re: BOBLeisure

I know a few guys who bought stuff and shipped to Canada with no problem and minimal extra cost beyond paying the taxes, with shipping taking about 1 week.

Re: Faulty? brand new board with air underneath fiber

I'm with Trent Hink on this one. They put in the inserts before they laminated the board. The resin used to put in the inserts has some white filler in it. It oozed out the bottom and soaked into the wood, giving it a different color. When the bottom was laminated, it looks different. Of course if y...

Re: Kitesurfing vs. Kiteboarding

I still have the "premiere issue" from winter 1999 of "Kiteboarding Magazine", which would have been the first magazine in North America. Anyone like me who was a windsurfer and went into a windsurfing shop probably picked up this first free issue. Starting in 1999, it was called kiteboarding as far...

Re: How to check accuracy of Kite/Wing pump

OK, so here is a DIY engineering solution to check your pressure. This is what I did, since my pump did not have a gauge and I wanted to calibrate the feel (sorry, this was for winging, for the kite I just pump till done). This pump is about 3.75" outside diameter - open up the pump - measure the in...

Re: Jet Ski gear rack

Looks nice. Did you add the cleats to the side yourself? They look handy for the rack.

FWIW, my Kawasaki Ultra LX has massive storage in the front. I can fit 3 kites in the front along with pump harness and wetsuit. I bought that model specifically for the storage. :)

Re: Kitesurfing after hip surgery.

A friend of mine had both his hips replaced when he was in his mid 50's. He is still kiting, but has been foiling and also winging more recently. I'm not sure if that is him taking it easy or just a natural progression that lots of us go through as sports evolve. It is certainly not keeping him off ...

Re: Where in the world has these conditions?

I know the spots # 1 and 2 very well from my 11 years in BC, including living 1 block from spot #2. I windsurfed spot #5 back in the 90's and am not surprised they shut down kiting there at the end of the runway! Those areas are very flat bottom and can have huge expanses of bare sand in low tide. I...

Re: How loose footstaps should be on a TT?

Duck stance is not natural for kiting. It is basically used when on a twin tip, as a compromise. Look at any sport where the board only goes in one direction, and where the feet can be in any position. Kiting in a directional or foil, windsurfing, winging, surfing etc. You will never see anyone choo...

Re: Steering Line Knots

With respect foam-n-fibre, I think you may be missing something. It may be that peeps seem to expect everything to just fly out of the box with no need to understand the aerodynamics. If you gave a newbie a long strap he would probably come back and say the kite is uncontrollable when depowered, li...

Re: Steering Line Knots

Yes, it is all about the length of the front lines compared to the rears. If you have 2" of adjustment in the knots at the steering lines, why not add 2" of adjustment to the front line trim? I don't know when I go out if I might end up overpowered or underpowered during the session. I set up my own...
