Re: Kitefoiling at the 2024 Olympic games

I hope it leads to more racers and more regattas like it did last time! Even in the short amount of time that kiting was Olympic in 2012, the world championship had 150+ racers.

I don't know why so many people decided to start racing because of the Olympics, but I hope it happens again.

Re: Flysurfer Soul

The Soul blows the Hyperlink out of the water. Its not even a fair comparison. Its above and beyond better. Im not a flysurfer dealer, rep, team rider or anything. I had a hyperlink, tried the soul and wow. Its in a different class. I wouldnt say Ozone has the freeride market corners. The SOUL is c...

Re: Slingy & LF taking competitor wings

Slingshot has come it a lot. They've sold MHL Lift, LP, and Moses foils rebranded. They also sell Elf's foil kite. It doesn't bother me. If they see a good product and want to distribute it through their network of dealers, what's wrong with that? It not like there is a lack of options for foils on ...

Re: Delta Hydrofoil's George Hradil talks foil design and the future of the sport

Pretty wild that in 2018 we are seeing inflatable kites winning a course race, and TT boards placing 2nd! Not a course race, just a downwind (broad reach) distance race. The key to winning this year was not to crash. Last year in the same distance race there was half as much wind and I did the cour...

Re: Delta Hydrofoil's George Hradil talks foil design and the future of the sport

I raced alongside some FRX riders at the Charleston Fort to Battery race this weekend. Bottom line, when it's really windy they are just as fast but in normal conditions (10-20 kts) foil kites are noticeably faster. The guy who won the distance race, Jason D'agostino, was on an FRX hydrofoil and inf...

Re: What got you into Hydrofoiling?

Dinghy racing growing up and in college > some windsurfing > kiting > formula kite raceboards (the big fin things) > hydrofoil racing I was always excited about racing, but the formula raceboards never took off at all on the East Coast of the US. I thought hydrofoils would never take off either. No ...

Re: Andersson Foils Bi-Directional Test ride video.

Looks like it works! Full disclosure, I'm generally skeptical of twintip foils. I think doing a smooth foiling transition or carve is the best part of foiling. Are you able to do foiling transitions on it? Past twin tip foils seemed to have been able to. Looks difficult to get going after the transi...

Re: Levitaz Bionic

I've heard the new ones (with bigger stabilizer) are really good, but the old one with the tiny seagull wing stabilizer was pretty twitchy, making it difficult to ride. That's pretty much the same with all race fouls though. The new generation is much more stable and easier to ride.

Re: Line length, gybing and down-looping

Dave the La Ventana video is interesting in that at about 49 seconds there are 2 Kiter’s gybing together and the second one almost does a tip crash despite the majority of the gybe looking sweet. The around 32 seconds? That one is interesting in seeing how different the turn radius of the kite can ...
