Re: World Sailing AGM confirms Kiteboarding for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games

Coaching, travel, lost income from not working, etc - these are the main costs of competing at a high level in any sport. The foiling equipment annual cost is modest by comparison especially since designs are stabilizing and gear is holding its value. Does the value of a used Mike’s even go down? A...

Re: What is Your Max Speed @ Hydrofoil ?

We have a nice flat water spot where there is shallow water on either side of a deep channel. I've had several ten second average speeds in the 34-35 mph range with Delta Hydrofoil and Sonic 2. 15m Sonic 2 in 14-15 knot winds and 11m Sonic 2 in 18-20 knot winds for top speeds. Top speed on Sonic 2's...

Re: Best "FreeRace" Foil Kite?

It sounds like the Sonic2 is a good Freerace option, except for the discouraging caveat about needing experience to fly them. But, how does one get experience with high AR foil kites without actually flying them??? I think sonic2 is fine as a first foil kite. I've had several people fly mine who ne...

Re: Flysurfer Sonic Race VMG

Had several sessions on the VMG 15m now. It's crazy fast compared to the Sonic 2, but often feels out of control for me. I'm worried it is above my skill level (I'm a mid-fleet racer). Easing and trimming the bar just doesn't seem to do much. This thing is flying fast and you are just along for the ...

Re: F-One Diablo V4

Have never tried the V2 or V3 and I understand there were issues with these models. Yeah, I've heard mixed reviews of the V2. Seems like some of them were not stable. Others I've talked to really like it though. I've heard good things about the V3. I think the V4 is an all new designer. I think the...

F-One Diablo V4

Any news on the Diablo V4? I've seen the pictures in the recent IKA Gold Cup races, but hadn't heard any feedback on them. Results were good, I think Connor Bainbridge was winning for the first half of last event on Diablo V4, finished 3rd. Looks like the wingtips are more square than other recent r...

Re: Duotone Rebel 2019

Do the 2018-2019s fly on any 4-line bar or do north kites still fly better on a bar with a high V?

Re: is super light wind the promised land?!

I think you should be able to tell how low the wind is from the apparent wind angles if you know your board speed upwind ( https://www.hydesailsdirect.com/Articles.asp?ID=278 ). If you are staying upwind at all, I think the wind has to be at least 5 knots, regardless of what kite and foil you are on...

That's a good one!

This was a 50 mile session in a narrow deep channel:

Re: Flysurfer Sonic FR 15 Meter Tip Fold Problem Solved

I am just going to correct you on what was posted Oh yeah, good point he did say he lengthened z, not shortened. I also see your point that lengthening A only has the same effect when the bar is pulled in, then the change is different due to the depower ratios. It did work to stop all tip tuck issu...
