Cabarete: best kite rentals, lessons?

Hi guys, I'm going kiting in Cabarete July 18-26. I'd like to leave my kite at home (I only have a 10m, and my last board got eaten...) and do a rental in Cabarete. It looks like kitecamp.com does rentals for $300 per week - is this a good rate in Cabarete? Also, are there any particularly good scho...

Sounds like I might have a better experience for now just spending that money on some trips to Cabarete... thanks all!

kite and board setup for riding upwind in 7 knots?

Hi guys, Looking for a setup to get me riding in 7 knots. Seems like the beaches here tend to get lots of 7 knot days. (Toronto) About me: 6' 170lbs. I can ride upwind, but not a good rider yet. Mostly used to riding 15-20 knots. I've been looking at the Airush Sector V4 board, and the 17m Slingshot...

Re: Kiteboarding eastern North America in July/August?

That sounds great; thanks. Squamish was a lot of fun and I'd be happy to go again, but maybe Hatteras is more cost-effective from the east coast...

Any suggestions on good camping spots? Or cheap rentals? Is Ocracoke a good place or will it be too far for good kiting?

Kiteboarding eastern North America in July/August?

Hi guys, Since moving to Toronto last August, I haven't gone kiteboarding - I don't know the kite spots here and I'm not confident on my own. Hoping to take a kiteboard vacation in the next couple of months (July or August) and wanted to get your advice. Where would you recommend I go? My considerat...

Re: Anti-Shark Wetsuits - The Pattern Of Attack

Finally! A reasonable answer to the age old question... Why do KiteBoarders where shorts over their wetsuits? To scare off the sharks! Who knew? We should do a study on how many kiteboarders/surfers were attacked with and without colorful board-shorts on. I thought most guys who wear boa...

Re: Who is responsible for kite when landing?

At the Squamish Spit, pretty much everyone who catches the kite flips it over and sandbags. And all the riders wrap their lines before tending to the kite. I'm glad I saw this thread as I'm now aware you shouldn't expect the catcher to properly sandbag your kite elsewhere.

Re: Restube safety floatation device

What's wrong with just wearing a PFD? Are we concerned about safety, or our turn down the catwalk?

Re: Kitesurfing? Is it as awesome as it looks?

I know that as a newbie it will be a Long, exciting journey before i can do anything of 'epic' proportions kitesurfing, and I am excited to just be able to move a few yards with my kite! However, I have to ask the more experienced users of this forum? Is it as adrenalin -pumping and exhilarating as...
