Re: First travel trip with kitegear

For SPI, you need all three kites for sure. The US airlines are super strict about the 50 pound limit, so don't go over that for sure. The other thing I found is they have to believe the golf bag story. Smaller golf bags like NSI deceiver work but I have tried larger ones to fit a 5'4" directional a...

Re: Doors instead of foil for summer days?

+1 for foiling. I'm only about 10 sessions in but am having a lot of fun. I invested way too much money on big kites and big boards back in the day. Often two or three sessions and then got so bored they sat in the garage rotting. This is the first light wind investment I don't regret.

Re: Hello all help with rigging wipika air blast

I'm new to the forum myself. I began learning how to kitesurf back around 2004 on an old slingshot fuel 16m. Around the same time, I picked up two other kites. A Wipika freeride 7.1 and another Wipika similar to the OP. I practiced a lot of body drags but only got up on my board on a single downwin...

Re: surfboard vs directional kite board

sorry I don't by the 'learn with straps argument.' Any strapless rider can easily use straps and we do when the wind gets too strong or if it's big and there's no channel going out or ... strapless will teach you better habits such as getting your back foot way back to carve your bottom turn properl...

Re: Why do you need especially fast turning kite

There seems to be plenty comments about bigger and slower kites being very boring. Like the one quoted below: I have flown most of the big light wind kites on the market...…..they all suck, big , slow, and boring. Sorry but there is no magic kite IMO. A few years ago they got me excited, now I woul...

Re: Aruba January

Boca & Huts are night and day. Huts is super flat water but the most gusty site I have been in my life. Not pleasant - too on-off. But Boca is great for big air junkies who want reliable strong wind every day (which was me back when I used to go). Not so many places you can use your 9 for 9 months s...

Re: Advice from an older married kiter to a young one

My advice is based on an old song. "If you want to be happy for the rest of your life, never make a pretty woman your wife. If you want my personal point of view, get an ugly girl to marry you." :D No way - I married a gorgeous woman who looks great in a bikini and is happy to lay on the beach whil...

Aruba is an amazingly windy place but Sep-Nov is off season, but still > 50%. It is also not really a wave place so neither lefts nor rights, at least not down the line clean point/reef breaks.

Re: Strappless or Strapped for Learning to Foil ??

My first session was with straps and my ankles were hurting bad after. After that I went with hooks and have been very happy. I usually ride surf boards strapless but was happy to have a little extra control of the hooks as a new foiler. https://northshoreinc.com/store/pc/view ... roduct=425

Re: Naish Bar with Cabrinha Kites?

agree on adapters. naish steering lines can be either pig tail or knot so that is flexible. just be careful about length as you use adapters. I remember once needing adapters only on only 2 of 4 lines and thinking I would always remember to use a different knot setting to counter the adapter length,...
