Re: Fokiten Fired!

Wow, I go away for 4 years, come back, and it's like nothing changed. As far as I'm concerned, Fo can do whatever he wants on this board because this one http://www.kiteforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=12122&start=81 post. has saved me only about a million years of kite setup pain over the years. And f...

Re: 07 north rebel 14/16 meter

The T valves can be a little troublesome on these kites, However they rock once you get em in the air. No T-valves on this kite. Nice kites, 14 is big, 16 is gigantic. Nose-down, canopy towards you relaunch takes time, but usually happens. Add 2-10 cm to the 5th line length to make them more grunty...

Re: North kites leading bladder

I had an early Rhino 05 and in that bladder North put a stopper ball on the inflation valve. It was really annoying. Slower and harder to pump. I noticed they took it off later kites that model year. There's also the safety issue: not all kites have a dump valve on the wing, so most people look for ...

Re: Tips and Tricks to Repair Kites - add your experience!

The only thing I'm still unsure about is the thread for the leading edge. I know that the stuff I have will be great for the tear. It is just the leading edge that I am unsure about. It is more a thickness issue than an matter of strength. It doesn't seem that amann thread is so well known in the k...

Merl- For smaller tears, I've used two layers of insignia cloth on the outside and inside. But your large tear parallel to the LE needs some real support. Insignia cloth feels too light - I'd use real 4 oz dacron. I would do this: 1. Open up the main seam. Pay attention to how they sewed it. 2. Alig...

Re: Waterproof sun-cream.

Bullfrog QuickGel. FredBGG should stay away because I'm sure it's pure cancer, but it works and it's readily available in US drugstores. It's alcohol-based, so you spread on a thin layer, let it dry in 2 seconds, and you're set. A deep breath during application also gives you a warm and happy feelin...

Re: Packing up the North Rhino

This works for my 2007 Rebels, and should work for 2007 Rhinos. 1. Starting at the end away from the dump valve, roll so that the tip batten and first rib are parallel until you get to the first rib. 2. Then, roll along the leading edge until you get to the dump valve. 3. Weight the rolled portion o...

Re: Looping Kite Accidents

Hey Fo, We've always seen eye-to-eye on most stuff but I have to disagree. Take your boat out where there's nobody else and fine I don't give a shit what you do: leash, no-leash, go ahead and tie your 2-line loop to the zipper pull on your fluorescent green kite pants for all I care. But come near m...
