The PWA (windsurfing) never got enough money to run an event either. Regarding kiteboarding, the Waddell classic was also discontinued due to lack of sponsors. It looks like the americans are spending all their money in the war in Irak (which goes directly to the pockets of Haliburton,i.e. GWB buddi...

You should learn to respect the others if you want to be respected, punk. Windsurfing is not the past but the future for many kiters. But not for motor boat riders like you that cannot distinguish between the power of the wind and waves and the power of a noisy and polluting engine. Sure windsurfing...

"With speeds like this obtainable by a regular joe on regular equipment on the snow, kites should be blowing away speed records on water very soon." We'll see, but there are some differences between liquid and frozen water. Also, was that ice riding speed obtained as an average of 500 mts? Because t...

No, Finian used a regular sail. those solid carbon wings were more hype than reality. Bjorn tried them a couple of years ago but he didn't like them.

Those expensive boats such as the yellow pages are extremely efficient wind powered machines but hard to control in high winds: a few days after Finian broke the record last year; they tried to re-take it but crashed hard the the two pilots ended in a hospital. very hardcore stuff.

No way! Both Finian and bjorn use fully custom gear. F2 released a new speed production board (missile) based on finian prototypes. But the sizes are really different. For exaple, the custom board Finian used to make 46.8s nts last year was only 33 cm wide, whereas the f2 missile is 50 cm wide. That...

kite speed sailing not considered for outright speed record

from the ISAF Executive Committee Meeting: World Speed Sailing Record Council – in considering recognition of kite surfing within the speed sailing arena, significant safety concerns continued to be expressed. At this stage, ISAF does not give endorsement to recognizing kite powered crafts as...

when I started kiting I though I would leave windsurfing. But I still love it and would miss the explosive feeling of a forward loop if I only rode kiteboards. To me, they are they are perfectly complementary sports. Dependending on how strong or gusty the wind is, or how flat the water is, I decide...
