Re: rainx sucks for gorpros, turtle wax is better

I have been using Xclear for sometime. It works better than Rainx and every other solution I have been able to find, more of the time, just not always. The film needs to be replaced after six months.

Re: Grand Cayman next week

I was on Grand Cayman on Friday, then moved over to Cayman Brac for a couple of days before heading back to Florida after the weekend. I was expecting even lighter wind in Brac and so only brought a 19 m Cab Contra and a relatively short travel split board. The combination worked well. I launched an...

Re: Italian Kitesurfer dies in Brazil

I am waiting for additional local information before getting into that aspect further. If it was of the "fair weather" variety of waterspout vs. the more obvious, powerful and evil looking tornadic waterspout, they can sneak up on you at times. Then again, the one in Italy was dark, plain as day and...

Re: Italian Kitesurfer dies in Brazil

I wouldn't be surprised. I will try to find a diagram of a typical wind field and velocity range for a waterspout for the writeup. A man was killed in Italy and another paralyzed in the Nordic countries by waterspouts loftings sometime back. Holy cow looks like 70Kn wind inside that funnel. I have m...

Re: Italian Kitesurfer dies in Brazil

I understand Christian was lofted by a waterspout. Locals posted this video of the waterspout as it came into shore and fishing boats. https://www.facebook.com/highlander.ricardo/videos/10214035393132150/ I am still trying to gather additional information and will post an overview after it comes in....

Re: Italian Kitesurfer dies in Brazil

I wish his family and friends solace at this tragic time. I have been able to find out little about this accident so far reading through the numerous news accounts. The following summarizes what have seen: Kiteboarding fatality in Porto Siguro, Brazil. On May 24, 2018, at around 2 pm Christian Pesav...

Re: Azores, Guincho In Early July

You are right something around 5 m packs down quite small. That will be a novelty, the last time I flew a 5 m (four line LEI) was in 2005! Kiteable winds are usually on the lighter side in Florida outside of much higher stuff in squalls and hurricanes of course. My high wind kite is a 9 m at 190 lbs...

Re: Azores, Guincho In Early July

Excellent information folks, many thanks! Sounds like on a strong day Gincho may be near blown out. The waves go over 4 m in strong conditions on the outside I imagine? It is good to have options beyond Gincho although I prefer waves to flat water. The good thing about small kites is that they pack ...

Re: Azores, Guincho In Early July

I was wondering what sort of wetsuit to bring, thanks for the insight. Are the afternoon thermic winds fairly reliable in Viana do castello? If so, what is the typical wind range around July? As there is a wide range in potential wind, light to honking, are kite rentals available in some of these co...

Azores, Guincho In Early July

I am getting the impression that winds are on the lighter side in the Azores, specifically Sao Miguel and Pino Island in early July? By contrast Guincho near Lisbon on the mainland is supposed to have good wind and waves in early July? All this is barring some bizarre tropical weather banging into e...
