Re: Newb 1st time B2 practice

Congratulations on mastering the trainer kite. 1 hour is the appropriate amount of time. Please consider that extended use (greater than 1 hour) of trainer kite by a beginner kitesurfer reinforces the worst negative habit. Not letting go of the bar. You have successfully learned how to use trainer k...

Re: 2017 Ride Engine vs Dakine C1

I have experience riding all 3 harnesses: Ride Custom; Ride Production; and Dakine C1. When considering comfort and performance, the Ride Custom is at the top. Amazing harness. Right behind it is the Dakine C1. After 10 days of riding; the C1's hard shell had molded significantly to my body. As it i...

Re: I Hate Helmets

Thanks for sharing your experience with helmets. Small bumps to the head can have tragic results. During the past 20 years of kiteboarding I have lost 4 friends to head injuries. All were expert kiters. 3 were head injuries. 2 with very small bumps to the head. 1 was in a coma for months with a very...

Re: fireball update anyone?

I used the FireBall for a couple of weeks. It felt great and performed flawlessly. After many great sessions with it, I went back to a hook and chicken loop as I only had 1 bar with the fireball. That’s when the FireBall’s performance really came to light and rose to the top. The chicken loop is som...

Re: 2016 Dakine C-1 Harness

I have been riding the Dakine C-1 for over 6 months on both snow and water. The C-1 is the most comfortable waist harness I have worn in 20 years of kiting. Believe me, after 7 or so sessions the hard shell conforms to your body. The more you ride it the more comfortable it gets. Genius. Most of the...

Re: Proposed KOTA Scoring to Fix KOTA

The proposes fix looks great. A lot of time and thought put into it. Good job.

1 important thing that could be added to help progress the sport:

Rider must land with same speed and control as their take-off. If not, deduct mega points.

Re: 2016 Cab Drifter 4,5m2 (or 5,5m2) - anyone used it, feedback please?

I own a Drifter 4.5. Yes, it is an amazing kite. It has a very similar range to the SwitchBlade 4, which I have used over 50 times and understand its characteristics. SB4 with it's great low end has a range of 20-60. It is well known that size for size the Drifters have a greater high end than a SB....

Re: Foils in KOTA?

In Hood River there is strong wind with sizeable swell that makes for good ramps. At last year's HuckFest the foils were going higher and bigger than twintips during most of the event. So, hydo-foils go as high or higher in strong winds. Recently on foils I watched: 16 year old Fred sticking backrol...
