Re: Channels on a surfboards

Since it seems like there is some grasping and gasping here, some hints: All strakes, keels, concaves and channels contribute to lateral and directional stability by creating force in proportion to their angle to the water flow. For lifting strakes on vee bottom boats, this means they increase lift ...

This ($13.99 for a dozen), some string, a pop bottle full of sand. Tape some rocks to the skinny end to make it stay upright, or funnel some sand into it before inflating if you prefer...

Re: Channels on a surfboards

I think channels are ok, have enjoyed them on some boards. As a design element, they have to work with the total design of each board. Some boards have different types of channels, for different reasons, with different feel, different performance and intended conditions etc. The mention of chines in...

Re: Zeeko Blue and White Mast Compatability

You would have to make extra hole in fuse to match up or make an adapter like the kiteboarding.com guys do for mhl. I'm in same boat, haven't dealt with it yet. Off to go ride before tide drops...

Re: Buoy for race training

run a 3/4 pvc pipe, 3' or so, through a crabpot buoy, attach a couple pounds weight to bottom, a square of high visibility cloth to top. If too heavy or cumbersome, maybe use an inflateable pool toy.

Re: Looking for advice on building a foil plate for my "One board for everything" split board

For the plate you can get a sheet of marine plywood (okoume preferably) 6mm. Wherever you need to have fasteners, drill it out with a 20 or 25mm bit and fill with epoxy reinforced with high density filler or glass fibers. This will create a strong zone to hold bolts, screws, inserts you might use. Y...

Re: Dihedral stabilizers

around what point does the foil rotate in yaw? With reference to this point, what is the moment developed by the vertical foil elements (angled wings, vertical fins, mast, winglets, fuselage...)? =>foil rotates around a point close to the CE of main wing. main wing: small horizontal force component,...

Re: Board Blank density

I'd go with #1 Or something else that has both heel and toe of both feet over carbon, with just 2x200glass skins. Another thing you can do is put a layer (or partial layer) of reinforcement between the foam sheets to boost stiffness without another full layer of anything on both sides. They did this...

Does it float?
or only with the pads?

make sure it floats well, lose the pinholes on the carbon, and it can be awesome!
