Re: Slingy & LF taking competitor wings

OTOH, Moses is not that small an operation as such things go, is it? If slingshot will buy a say, a hundred 545/325 sets (or whatever) plus fuselages and masts, that must help Moses amortize their molds and/or pay for new molds to be cut for their next generation of gear. Slingshot takes on the mark...

Re: Important Message: I almost died - Gunnar Biniasch

but the tourists you mention are locals somewhere too, no? Or do you mean the people who only kite when abroad? Sure, everyone is from somewhere. and nothing wrong with traveling or being a tourist, can be a lot of fun. I have been thankful to be able to travel relatively often. What I was trying g...

Re: My new project : iGetwind.com

Looks cool on iphone 7 /11.3 and on win10 PC. Agree about header font, smaller, all caps and bold please! Best if you can keep it from wrapping! The text in the models could maybe bump up a size, but if you want it to compare 3 spots in phone screen, better keep as is. Function seems great at first ...

Re: Important Message: I almost died - Gunnar Biniasch

It’s a danger that kiting has evolved to where it has a dual nature. One one side you see local (more or less) communities of riders who are aware of dangers in their spots, and usually include people with many years experience, who support each other and are conscious of risk, and are able and will...

Re: What's the dumbest thing you have seen a newbie do?

Thick, that’s you being the kook. When you get someone to launch you, you don’t make them pick up your kite off ground and walk to “where you think it should launch from” People do this but it’s retarded. Get your lines straight, walk to kite, C it up to the side of the window and assess how the win...

Re: What's the dumbest thing you have seen a newbie do?

I have only one story that really fits, here it is again: A guy with maybe a season of experience (but possibly not all in the same season, I’m not sure) came out and brought his sand screw anchor. Metal corkscrew, maybe 75cm. He launched ok and plowed around a bit, then went to land his kite with t...

Re: Anti-slip material on foil board. Where to buy?

If sugar coat nonskid comes out too coarse you could just lightly sand it, or spray a coat or two of polyurethane on top....

Re: I need convincing too:) Bar back lines!

With 12 strand braids of sk75, sk99 used normally, keep in mind all the strands are exposed so wear and is a key factor in the apparent over specification of 300-400kg lines. If you could find a lighter sleeved line with core protected maybe you could go weaker strength with less durability loss. Bu...

Re: How to build a bar? Just the rod/pole item ~60cm. Anyone done it?

Tom that bar looks great! I have a suggestion for reinforcing the center (or any other part) against impact: Overwrap with lower modulus fiber/fabric of your choice, perhaps in lower modulus matrix. I think if I make a bar I might overwrap the whole thing with some kind of polyester cloth in a PU of...
