Re: Ocean Rodeo (Rise) -or- Ozone (Edge/Catalyst)...Decision

Just bought a quiver of 2011 edges and cant say enough good things about them. I have ridden a lot of kites and have never felt as confident as i do under the new edge. They cost a bit more but i am extremely pleased with my investment. If you like to go fast and jump this could be your huckleberry....

Re: Tug Hill

Anyone thinking of heading out to ride on the tug tomorrow. Forecast winds for lowville look a bit light but it seems to always blow up on the hill.

Jan,
Sunday looks like it could be pretty breezy ... Are you planning on heading out to the dear farm?

Re: Saratoga/Lake George, NY area conditions for x-mas?

I dont think that Saratoga or Great Sacandaga will be ready for christmas. Round lake is usually the first lake to go and its pretty close to snapping over completely. The last couple warm days have been a set back but it looks like a good cold spell are is dropping in over the next week. I plan to ...

Re: Tug Hill Deer Farm Site test fly in

Hi Jan,
I cant make the 20th but would love to check out the deer farm. Let us know how the test ride turns out. Will you be heading out at all during the week of the 22nd?

How is the snow holding?

Re: Snow On the Tug Hill

I think the Tug wind units are Vestas v82 -1.65MW turbines. If so the hub height would be 230ft and blade length would be 135ft. That would make tip to ground distance (directly under the hub) about 95ft. Keeping a line length away from the towers this distance goes to ~135ft.

Re: Snow On the Tug Hill

Is any one planning on riding the Tug on Saturday? I am thinking of making the trek.

It looks like there should be a decent south, how is the wind from that direction?

Re: Snowkiting Near NYC (within three hour drive)

All the lakes around Albany are good to go. Saratoga Lake, Great Sacandaga Lake, Round Lake etc all have good coverage. I hit up Saratoga on Thursday and there was 12"+ of new snow across the lake.

Coming from NYC all of those spots would be about 3hr drive. Enjoy!

The conditions ended up not justifying a drive up to the tug this past weekend for me but I am keeping an eye on it and cant wait to make a trip.

I would really dig getting to meet up with some folks up there it looks like there is some good snow on the ground : )
