Yes, OB at low-ish tide, usually by the wind-mill. Works a treat -- EXCEPT -- beware of the dogs! The buggy-ers hae a pretty good time of it there too. It has to be low tide to get the packed sand. There's one guy who's got his boxer used to running after a little finger kite. allows the owner to st...

defending Fo

In the good old days, when I lived by the ocean, I came to this forum daily. Fo was a fixture, and once you've worked out the subtleties of his tone - can be hard, for sure - he basically gave sound advice. his message is usually: be careful, be responsible, you're practicing a dangerous sport. Ther...

spots near Minehead, North Somerset, UK?

I'm here for the w/end; happen to have my kites, dry-suit, board ... And there's a nice northerly at 15mph.

Can anyone tell me about where to go on the stretch between Minehead and Bridgwater ... (nothing on KB, as far as I can tell).

thanks, tony

chronologically, from start date (none given up yet):
ski, swim, sail, windsurf, snowboard, paraglide, hanglide (ok, I did give that up), mountain bike, climb, scramble, surf, kite

can someone predict where the next one of these wonderful sports is going to come from??

I've often thought about trying to launch around lake geneva, which has very few good launch spots, especially near the city. It seems to me the boat is an unnecessary expense/complication for this kind of lakeside case. Here's the (untested) idea: - put a buoy 50-100yds off-shore - put a sort of gi...

i got prescriptions from seaspecs & wouldn't recommned it --- thick glass meant real fog problems. The angle of the glass also meant for some weird distortion.

I now use an old pair of corrected ray-bans with a neoprene strap - open at the side and much clearer vision.

foilpilot is back up online

It's taken me a long time and much prodding to do not very much in the end to get the site back up. http://www.foilpilot.com Thanks to Lewis for his help - with motivation too - and to Mark Pronk and all the others for egging me along to do something about access to the archive. The site is a PMU fr...

SF Bay Area in the May-Sept period.

For the consistency of the wind, great launch sites, very active scene.

And of course Maui, but that's not news.

foilpilot.com also got hacked ... still working on it

Hi - lacking Toby's efficiency, I jus ttook off and went skiing over Christmas before getting the server back up. I'm back and looking at how to get foilpilot.com back up. I guess upgrading to a new phpbb will be in order. but the archive and database are safe, and as long as work doesn't drown me t...
