Re: How does Kiteboarding translate to snowboarding

If your a competent skier (i.e. power carving), Snowboarding is a breeze. Same weight control as skiing (unweighted tail to turn, edge control etc), but turned 90. You do actually use your upper body to initiate turns (point where you want to go, lean towards the front of the board and around you go...

Re: Computing Wing Lift

Curious as to why!!

Re: Zeeko Spitfire Hydrofoil

Ciao Airsurfer,

Any chance you could take some measurements of the xlw wings (length, width,thickness??)?

Also if a newbie was going to pull the trigger would you go for the spit or the Takuma (can ride and give ok a strapless surfboard)?
Thanks, Mike

Re: Big wings

CLARK-Y 11.7% smoothed
Width = 600mm
Chord = 205mm
Thickness = 65% (18mm) Pitch = 1.30°
okume plank (That's what the offcut i found was) - going for a rectangular wing with corners rounded off.
AR is a bit low so hoping for a nice slow easy to use in light wind foil.

Re: SUP Foil Wing

Is dihedral needed. Zeeko seems to do ok with flat wings (carver & spitfire)?

Re: Big wings

Thanks Gunnar,

Been reading up a lot on the French foil builder forum, but yeah I'm aware that might stubble with board wing/ stab balancing.

How big would you go (front) and stab?
Thanks,

Mike

Re: Big wings

Hi guys, Thanks for this interesting info. I'm looking at having a go at building (I have not foiled yet). I like playing in the (little and mushy) wave and swell we get around here. Would a big wing also be ok for the learning curve? If so how big (I'm 90kg)? What wing to stab area ratio is used on...

Re: Repurpose a airrush choptop for foiling

Thanks Tom

It's not so much the attachment method that I'm worried about. Seen lots on that, but the thanks :)

I was wondering about the shape being good as a foil platform.

Repurpose a airrush choptop for foiling

Ciao builders,

I have a choptop 5'3" gathering dust and was wondering if I could repurpose for foiling.

No foil yet (so no attachment method). Given I have to mod it for the foil, what are you opinions on mounting system.

Thanks,

Mike
