Re: another Kitesurf accident Causing the death of a woman :

It is not simply a warning, it explicitly prohibits kiting when wind is gusting over 80 km/h.

RIP

Sincere condolences to family and friends.

Re: Sudden deep ventilation ?

Is it possible you are experiencing what this guy is talking about (supercavitating foil section), happening when the pressure on the top of the wing is so low that evaporation then cavitation occurs? I know the guy talks about this phenomenon occurring at around 50 knots, but maybe some particular ...

Re: Red Bull Kite Farm

Yes, very bad timing indeed. And 18 hour drive between the two. Impossible to make it to both under the current schedule. WISSA schedule had been out for months (September). Sponsors are not happy at all. It also means the best racers will not be there or they will spread between the two events. Nor...

Re: New Spotz V2 2014

The smaller front wing is actually called "Slalom front wing" (see http://www.spotz-foil.com/#!products/c1a97 ). The slalom front wing has a lot less lift that the FreeRace and it requires significantly more speed to get foiling, to a point where I find it unpleasant to use. If you don't build enoug...

Re: New - Flysurfer Speed 4 Lotus 8m & 10m kites

How would you compare the 15 to the 12? I went from S3.5 12 to a lotus 15 and I'm kinda missing my 12. Thinking about selling the 15 to get a lotus 12. Well, with a high performance hydrofoil under the board, the 15 does not buy me much. I may gain maybe 1 to 1.5 knot on the bottom end of the wind ...

A quickly assembled video of footage taken last week.

@Roberto: planning to come back to my summer hiding spot, the Magdalen Islands, next summer?

New - Flysurfer Speed 4 Lotus 8m & 10m kites

Just coming back from a nice two week trips to the Caribbeans, I brought 4 brand new Flysurfer kites (Speed 4 Lotus 8-10-12-15m), an F-One Fish 5'10" surf board and two hydrofoils (Zeeko Makaira with both race and free-ride front wings, Spotz with the new free-race front wing), all paid for by mysel...

Re: Omfg. Have you ever had a kite line you could not splice

...I can't seem to get my splicing tool to feed up the line Have you had this happen? Suggestions? I have done my own share of splices and yes, some lines would simply not splice. I am the line and splice guy around here and I get to splice quite a bit of lines. Sometimes, I get lines from a random...

Re: New Spotz V2 2014

Back on the subject.... So in this scenario raising the AOA of a stabiliser should cause the tail of the foil to go up and thus the front wing will go down Mmmmm, not quite. The stabilizer (rear or tail wing) of the Spotz has a profile that generates downward lift, that is, the opposite of the front...
