Re: The best Kite for heavy riders?

6'2" 250 lbs. Ride inland in lakes so very gusty. I have ridden airush, best, epic and now Switch. Loved the 20m Waroo (weighed closer to 300 when I rode that). Love the epic screamer 14. I ride the switch element 1 15m from 15 to 28 or so. Jumps and floats great. Really want to try the '14 switch n...

Re: Make kites in the USA?

I have a friend who was managing a toy manufacturing company in China 7 years ago. He said they were paying 22 cents/hour. He said they Nike plant was near them and they were paying 14 cents per hour. Now the employees lived at the plant and were fed by the plant. They slept 16 per small room in 4 h...

Re: WTF

We kite in lakes so no chance if being lost at sea, but you can spend a lot of time in the water and walking back to the launch when something goes wrong. I have towed in people at least a dozen times and been towed in a couple times myself. To me it's the least we can do. A big part of the fun and ...

Re: How to improve your pop

I am one of those old guys who thinks he's hanggliding. I can pop both ways, my problem comes when trying to use the kite to boost in my weak direction. I just can't seem to fly the kite in the right position. I'll keep practicing unless I pass away or my hangglider breaks...

Re: New Heavyweight group forum on here

Not only I am fat, I must not be technically skilled. I tried to follow the smell of donuts, but couldn't find the group. Can anyone help? 265 lbs here and my favorite kite of all time was my 2006 20m Waroo. Pulled like a truck, pulling a fat guy...I'm really not fat, just too short for my weight.

Re: Dallas Texas Reporting In

Talbert, we have a pretty active group of kiters in DFW (60 or so). Like most places our best winds are spring and fall. We do get winter cold fronts that bring wind and some south wind days before the cold front (get a wet suit to participate). There is at least one guy who teaches in DFW lakes, I ...

Re: Haven't been to Corpus in a while: Lola Closed?

That makes sense. We have always parked on the dirt behind his house or an the dirt across the street. Some people just have no sensibility about things. Thanks for the info.
