Re: perfect wave kite

I recently got to try out a Slingshot Diesel 7m from 2005 in the surf. 20m lines and a pulley bar. I really enjoyed it. Super quick and easy to whip around. I never dropped it as it wasn't mine so I didn't get to try out the reverse launch bridle, but I like the idea of four lines for waves rather t...

Re: 20 or 25 meter lines for waveriding

I ride 15m lines on my 6m kite and 17m lines for my 8 and 11m kites.
makes them twitchy and super fast, easy to dump wind, but yeah take a little to get used to.
Try a pulley bar too, they rock unhooking in the surf.
carfeul though with a super small kite on short lines as they are FAST,

Re: Naish bar shift system 2012 and older Torches

Not true, only works properly with the Shift bar. I brought a North 2011 5th Element bar for mine and the kite did not fly well, spent alot of time adjusting line lengths etc. The kite did physically fly on the North bar but just not aswell as on the Shift. I did a back to back test with both bars ...

Re: Who else is pssed at buying wonky kites?

There Is a way to do that without the use of a batten : a guy could make the last two panels of a kite so that the camber distribution could be adjusted. Perhaps it could be done with lacing that could be covered with a Velcro cloth faring ; you'd only need one near each wing-tip. Yep-- we do this ...

Re: double death loop stuck hard up against each other

Scary shit.
Any chance of posting it so us non-facebookers can see?

Seen it happen a few times but fortunately in lighter winds where the kites crashed and stayed down.

Re: Did this Naish kite ever even exist?!

Tautologies, that depends on what you are looking to do. The raven 07 is still gonna give you more boost/hangtime than a Torch any year.
I just traded my 25m V4 for an 8m raven 06. I can't wait for enough wind to take it out.

Re: Anyone modified their Compstick bar to Lenten's setup?

That Len10 "pro Bar" is basically the same as a SS bar from 2004 with new graphics.

Check out camcleat.com, they have the goodies.
Its great to see folks making their own bars.

Re: Female Valve Strut unglued Octupus System Naish

In the past I glued them back on from the outside and it worked ok. That is the valve ended up on the outside rather than the inside. I dislike putting more holes in a bladder
Now when I get that issue I find it simpler to remove the one pump system and go with an individual inflation system.

Re: Where to find cheap kite lines?

Jake, As always there is a bit of stretch in the front lines as they are constantly loaded, however I have not had to do any major adjustments to the set since I made them a year ago. I can't measure against the old set as the new ones were only roughly measured against my old 20m set to begin with....

Re: Where to find cheap kite lines?

Splicing is the best way Use a folded piece of mono-filament fishing line or a large needle as a fid, no need for expensive crap. This is what I use for my lines, at the bottom of the page is the 500lb test line. Super easy to splice, and at $182.99 for 600yds you cant go wrong. http://www.tackledir...
