Re: Suggestion on where/how to mount a gopro hero camera?

Personally I like the chest mount best. I think it's the most secure, but I also like it because it makes for the easiest access to the camera while kiting which is super helpful when you want to change modes or settings. I do also use the headstrap (but I added my own chin strap to prevent it falli...

Re: Kite Anchor vs. Kite Buddy

Cool, thanks everyone for your feedback. Very helpful. If I end up buying one (still not sure), I'll be sure to post a review.

Kite Anchor vs. Kite Buddy

Anyone have any input on the pros and cons of The Kite Buddy (www.thekitebuddy.com) and The Kite Anchor (www.kiteanchor.com)? They do the exact same thing except the kite buddy costs $65 and the kite anchor cost $40 And yes I do know that I could probably just make one myself for a heck of a lot les...

Re: Tulum Mexico first hand reports?

I was there in December of '08 and had a great time riding. I think I was there for 5 days and 4 of them were rideable. I'd presume March is similar weatherwise, but I can't guarantee that. Wind was usually lightish (15-18 mph). I weight 170 and spent the whole time on my 12 meter. Basically you can...

Re: Trax IV Kiteboard: 80 kgs, what size?

I'm about your weight (77kg) and I ride the Trax IV 134. I find it rides small. It has a lot of rocker to it so I think you might have some trouble riding upwind in lighter conditions on the 132. You might struggle in the 11-14 knot range. My 2 cents would be to tell you to go for the 134 instead. c...

Re: Is it worth upgrading from beginner to advanced board?

Yes definitely. With a smaller, more performance oriented board, you will be able to handle higher winds, get better pop for jumps and tricks, edge harder, and carve better. In fact, my own personal opinion (definitely not shared by everyone) is that your board is more important than your kite. A ki...

Re: What about Liquid Force 2010?

Grantman, I'd say that the new Slingshot Comp Stick Bar has a better QR system and flagging system. But that's just from what I've seen. I've never flown it (I fly Naish and am using the 2009 bar), but from what I've seen, I like it better, particularly because the entire chicken loop doesn't separa...

Re: Schools are making kitesurfing too dangerous

This is indeed an interesting topic. One thing I always tell people when they ask me about getting into the sport, is that you often get what you pay for. Often, people want to go with the cheapest lessons they can find. I'm not saying more expensive is better, I'm just saying investigate. There's a...

Re: Help needed from fellow Helix & Cult flyers

In answer to your last question, yes, in my opinion, the 2009 system is far superior to that of 2008. I fully understand the problem you are describing and the beauty of the 2009 system is that you can attach your leash on the below the bar depower strap while riding to avoid that exact issue, but t...
