Re: Jackson Hole / snowkiting

You may not want to ski the resorts. Bring Big kite....14 if you have it. Maybe 1 medium size if you have room. Also if you get into Wyoming by the 16th - it might be worth coming up to the Snowkite Rodeo near Dillon, MT(Big Hole Pass). There will be lots of snowkite stoke going on that weekend.

Re: Jackson Hope / snowkiting

Look up Jackson Hole Kiters on facebook. Lots of info there. The spots are Bondurant, Togwotee Pass, & sometimes it works at Antelope Flats. When the wind direction & snow are right Bondurant is mind blowing. Definitely take your kites! The crew there are great folks happy to share their stoke with ...

Re: with gear. No bars in carryon?

Not sure if this is a United issue but since they were mentioned - 1st rule of kite travels - never fly United if at all possible. They truly suck, so does Delta. Support airlines like Alaska whenever possible & let them know you fly on their airline because they have a good baggage policy. As to th...

Re: Switch Element-6

Finally had a chance to ride my 12M nicely lit - on snow. Snow was crusty and lots of sage poking through. Surface was fast. I played around using the exposed sagebrush as a slalom course and there was a good hillside to boost off. The kite is super responsive & smooth. The more I fly it the more I ...

Re: Are Switch kites getting any better?

@galewarning Anyone think this is part of the Element6 bloodline? https://ikon-kiteboarding.com/product/peak-3/ And in the smaller E6 one-strut sizes... https://ikon-kiteboarding.com/product/peak-3xs/ Maybe Switch will derive a version of Ikon's Empire foil kite... [edit: URL added] https://ikon-kit...

Re: Are Switch kites getting any better?

I've gotten 3 sessions in on snow with a 12M E6 now. 1 Session was in deeper powder & the other 2 on firmer, faster surface. On each occasion I was also flying a Flysurfer Boost 2, 15M. Winds were light every time so far. I don't have any special allegiance to Switch other than I like their customer...

Re: Snowkiting near Bozeman/Big Sky MT

There are quite a few kiters in the Bozeman area. Look up Montana Kiters on facebook also. Your main spots for park & ride will be Raynolds Pass, Island Park, & Mt Haggin. Right now spots right in close to Bozeman are rideable as well. If you have a snowmobile there are so many options but I'm guess...

Re: Are Switch kites getting any better?

Lewmt, just curious, why an inflatable for snow?
I've had foils - just seems inflatables are much more fun. Especially in gusty mtn conditions.

Re: Are Switch kites getting any better?

1st day out on snow on 12M new E6. Very light wind today - guessing 8-15. I only flew the kite for a few minutes & smooth is a very accurate description. Wife - who is a beginner - had a much easier time flying & relaunching the kite in such light winds than she'd had previously on E-5's & E-3's. Ki...

Re: Are Switch kites getting any better?

I have a 12 & 9 coming any day. I bought into the anti-pulley rhetoric years ago when SS Ralleys came out. I've since owned BRM, Ozone, and Switch kites - all without pulleys. I'll be testing on snow but will have a great opportunity to run towards the kite on descents and check the drift. Of course...
