minimalist quick-release

I mostly snowkite in the backcountry where we need to skin for access. So anything to make gear smaller & lighter is good. has anyone made/modified/bought a more minimalist and streamlined quickrelease? currently I hook in with a locking carabiner from the harness to the standard loop on my ozone fr...

Re: spotz2 for heavy kiter?

When you say "pot" do you mean semi permanent? As in it can still be undone for things like travel. Just a thin layer of epoxy? permanent but still able to disassemble. It takes about 15mins + cure time. - check that there are no notches or grooves in the female socket that will create a 'lock'. - ...

Thanks
just get the freerace. Don't think it through any more than that.

on all of them: it's worth taking the time to pot your front wing exactly to the mast/fuselage piece, and to pot your mast to your board's box.

Re: spotz2 for heavy kiter?

I've had/have two Spotz 2's, both slalom and freerace.
2m tall / 115kg.
I jump it and race competitively.
no cracks or breaks.
you're good.

Re: Used spotz2?

there was a batch that had issues. Otherwise if you have one and it hasn't broken already then it probably won't. So you're fine to buy used.

I know a guy here in Canada who has one for sale with a board - PM me for info.
I just sold my own spare, which I've had for a while without any issue.

Re: Larger wings for larger guys.

I am 2m tall and 115kg, so I'm certainly a larger guy. But there are about 20 of us here locally who have Spotz2 foils and we all use the same wings without issue. most of us are obviously average sized, while a couple are quite lightweights. I would benefit from a larger wing for lightwind racing, ...
